PURPLE LEAF Patio Umbrella 8' x 8' Excellent 240 GSM UV Protection Beige

Love this umbrella. We have a fairly large uncovered patio, and I was looking for something to provide some nice shade. This umbrella does exactly that. Love the look, and super easy to crank up and down.

I've tried to figure out for some time now how to best provide late afternoon shade for two chairs on my deck, which faces due west. Once I finally found the right product (this one) I had to determine the best way to mount it securely. Purple Leaf provides a few options, but you have to dig around a bit to find them. I found the "standard" way the least palatable. By the way, if you are wondering if Purple Leaf is a great company with great products, wonder no more; they are. I had a number of interactions with them as I tried to figure out the best solution for my mounting and they were responsive and helpful. My deck joists are 16" on center apart. Additionally, I cannot get access underneath my deck and, since it's a composite deck with "invisible" clips that hold my deck down, removing a portion of the deck to get access to construct a box to attach this base to wasn't an option. So I made a 17" x 17" frame out of treated lumber, which I attached to my joists using 5.5" lag screws; then, I painted the Purple Leaf plate and my frame the same color. I used the 16 mounting screws with 1.25" stainless lag screws to bolt the steel plate to the frame I made. Some have simply used the 16 holes to screw the place to the deck but, given that my deck is composite, not wood, I didn't trust that. And the big "X" base that comes witht the umbrella, held down with either the water/sand weight, sand bags, patio blocks or the life would not have been to my liking. If you have a wooden deck of pressure treated lumber, you're probably OK just screwing the base to the deck. Time will tell if this holds up, but I have a feeling it's not going anywhere since I really over-engineered this solution. (This is added two years later as I sit on my deck. This umbrella has held up remarkably well. I usually move it to the store position and cover it each evening. I also store my umbrella in my garage over the winter). Very, very happy with my purchase. The umbrella is well-constructed and the provided hardware is top-notch. While it's recommended to have two people for the final mounting, I was able to handle it just fine by myself at 67 years of age.

Choose this listings if you want an umbrella only and you’re gonna use your own sand bag or paver plates. I chose Purpleleaf for their reputation and customer service. The product works great. Don’t cheapen out on a few dollars and end up with a product you’re unhappy with with no support.

We purchased an 8 x 8 version of this umbrella for a seasonal home in Florida and couldn't be happier. We also wanted to purchase an additional canvas canopy because sometimes model changes or other events such as unexpected damage to the canopy occurs and it can be difficult at times to find a proper replacement. Not finding any available online, we contacted Purple Leaf via Amazon and worked with a representative name Tears and they were OUTSTANDING! We were able to easily order a replacement and it arrived within days as well. Tears even sent a followup text after delivery to make sure everything arrived in good condition. This type of support needs to be more the norm than the exception these days. This is our second Purple Leaf purchase and would highly recommend them.
