It produces a gentle, steady stream of water that is extremely quiet- helping with an easily startled cat. It comes with a detachable bowl as well, but we didn't need it as she likes to drink from the shallow base. The best part is the indicator light that turns red when water level is low and the filter automatically stops. Other fountains don't have this safety feature to prevent damage to the motor. It's very easy to clean the stainless steel and change the filter/sponge. It also doesn't get slimy residue buildup and holds a lot of water.
