It is indeed too boxy for a woman but it was not at all difficult to take in the arm holes at the shoulder and then it appeared to be made for a woman's shape. It is very useful and adaptable and I think it looks great on me now, the alteration is not noticeable yet the higher cut shoulders look good. The only recommendation I would give is that it is important to decide in advance which pockets you will use for which items or you will be rifling through them all every time you need something. This vest was well thought out and does the job. It can provide extra warmth yet the venting allows it to be comfortably worn when it is warm out too. I say this because I own one of those old BR vests.In any case, it has a great deal of useful pockets, large and small, of different sizes and styles, and is generously cut for freedom of movement. I got this vest in black because I usually wear a black parka in the winter and wanted to wear a cargo vest over it without being too obvious. This vest fills the bill. The mesh doesn’t hold up at all. The fabric stretches and deforms over normal use. The pockets have easily torn holes in them as well as drooped and deformed within lightweight items inside.
