Amazing HDD
The product came properly packaged with the disk protected inside some tube-like air bag made from a very resistant rubber material. This prevents the disk from suffering hard hits, which is essential for HDDs. This 10TB drive is amazing. I've seen read speeds of 280MB/s and write speeds up to 120MB/s, but sometimes it even feels faster for an HDD when writing some big files after the system being idle. Of course these speeds are far from nvme SSDs, but it's pretty good for an HDD, considering that the upgrade was made over a drive writing at a rate of 20MB/s. The speed will be a bit lower if you will be copying your entire OS or partition table from another drive because the process can be long and the drive cache will get filled after some time, slowly lowering the write speeds to 60-70MB/s. Even still, copying everything I had was a lot faster than if I was to do the same thing with older drives, which makes the process a lot less stressful. It's still too early to judge its reliability, but I'm sure I will have much more peace of mind knowing that my data is protected in an enterprise-grade drive. I've setup my system to boot from an nvme SSD for fast boots and to not have to stress the HDD everytime I want to turn the computer on, which would lower its lifespan. The drive will only be storing passive data and I hope it to have a long long life until I have to move the data to a larger disk or even with new technology.

Received the correct model with a fully-functional 5-year warranty
I am always skeptical of purchasing hard drives from marketplace sellers, as I have had many issues with receiving a slightly different model than the listing describes (for example, if the listing model number was a drive with self-encryption, I might receive the standard variant without self-encryption) and recieving hard drives that are OEM or otherwise non-warrentiable. To my delight, all of the drives I purchased here were of the correct model (ST10000NM0086), the "Standard" variant of the Seagate Exos x10 SATA 10TB, and all of the drives immediately validated when their serials were run through the Seagate website for registration. This seller offers great prices and a legitimate, correct, product. As for the disks themselves, these are some beastly hard drives, with a large 256MB write cache, an excellent advertised MTBF of 2.5 million hours, a 0.35% AFR (average failure rate) for 24/7 operation, a competitive maximum non-recoverable read errors rating of 1 sector per 10E15 bits read, reasonable power consumption requirements of 4.5W (for idle) to 8.4W (under max load), a 550TB/yr workload rate limit (which is multiples better than all consumer drives, and even some same-in-class drives), and of course, a wonderfully lengthy 5-year warranty from Seagate. Whether you plan to put this in a NAS, server environment, or even a workstation PC, this drive is a great choice, especially for those who require 24/7 operation and consistent writes.

This Works Great
I am increasing the capacity in my older NAS and this drive fit the need perfectly. It is among the largest it will recognize and is a good enterprise drive. It was delivered quickly and at a good price. The NAS is working with no problems at all.

One of Two Failed
We purchased 2 of these 10TB drives to replace smaller (3TB WD) ones in our home NAS. Our selection process was based on data that suggested these were very reliable. Thus, when one mechanically/audibly failed within days of installation, needless to comment we were surprised and disappointed. We returned both and replaced with two similarly sized drives of different manufacture. Yes, we know that even the most reliable of products can suffer the occasional 'infant mortality' . . . but with our positive track record with 'the other' manufacturer, we saw no reason not to return to that which hadn't failed us.

Fast, cold, quiet
I first ran this drive outside of any enclosure. Runs at 82-84° under load (in my house, before hitting my super cold datacenter.) -- faster than any single HDD I've owned and I'd call it nearly silent. I read people saying it was "the LOUDEST DRIVE EVER." --- f*$%in liars! The sound is nearly non-exsistent WITHOUT an enclosure. Super impressed. When something runs that quiet, smooth and quick... it just feels like there's reliability in the future. Only time will tell. I've put the drive through an >10TB in a couple of days. It could have done much more... it rested a lot. From one computer nerd to another... it feels to me like this drive loves to work. Again, only time will truly tell.

Initialization can take 5 hours/Terabyte - UPDATED
UPDATE: seems my drive said initialize and I clicked it with nothing happening and no indication of anything happening. After more than 50 hours waiting, I looked at Disk Utility where the drive still said uninitialized. I clicked on erase and it gave me a bunch of options for a quick format. Since it was external and not an SSD I formatted it MacOS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled). This did the trick and I was quickly up and running with my new movie storage vault. This all happened as a result of my own lack of understanding to be sure, but I am not certain where I would get better information to understand what the "Initialize" button is for. The window pops up and says the drive needs to be initialized. You click the button "initialize" and nothing happens except the window goes away. When you open Disk Utility the drive in question still says uninitialized. It seems things are not entirely clear what needs to happen. Disk utility has the active button "First Aid".... which I clicked and it told me the drive was fine. Then I clicked "Erase" I think. Why would I have to click Erase when the drive is uninitiated and has nothing on it. Seems counter-intuitive to a degree. Anyhow my drive is now formatted and getting filled up with backups of my HD movies. ------------------------------------------- I didn't know this drive came unformatted. Most of the drives I have purchased came formatted in some way it seems. Anyhow upon placing the drive in my Insignia USB external enclosure and hooking it up to my iMac, a window popped up saying it needed to be "Initialized". I wasn't certain what this meant, but apparently it is a deep format of the drive and not the usual quick format. This more involved formatting process called "Initializing" on my Mac is really an involved formatting process where all of the drives sectors are checked for bad sectors and such. Apparently, according to the tech on Chat at Amazon that this can take 5 hours per TB on the drive. So 50 hours in all. I am 36 hours in and the drive is still not recognized and says "uninitialized' on DiskUtility. This had me worried that something was wrong. I will wait the additional 14 hours or more to see if the process completes. When trying to look up info on "Initializing" mostly there was a lot of vague references to it and there seemed to be not much solid info on the process or how long it would take. It seems that now that we have bigger drives of 14TB and eventually 20TB, it might be nice for sellers or Amazon to provide more info on the process of Initialization or Formatting and how long that would take on these drives which are apparently unformatted. A 20TB drive could take 100 hours (over 4 days) to initialize.... Yikes!

Buy It!
Running 2 10TBs in my Drobn5n. Bought the second one because an 8TB WD Red helium drive failed. Still running 2x 6TB ST6000DX000 and an 8TB WD. VERY impressed with the new Exos drives. The drive casing seems to be made out of aluminum (or an alloy?). Never seen that in another drive, very impressive! Based on initialization speed these drives seem like my fast drives yet. Best of all they seem to be running at about 80 degrees, vs my others are closer to 100. That means these drives are likely using less energy and should last longer. One thing to note is Backblaze is running ~1,220 of these drives and is reporting an average failure rate of only 0.33%. Those are numbers that should help you sleep at night. In short, these drives are the best bang for the buck!

quality product
IMO this model of Seagate HHD's is best for a large storage unit. I am using it in my NAS setup as a 4 drive RAID 5 backup.

Great Drive, fast delivery, good price for an enterprise drive.
Fast drive. Works well. Only has 2 sets of holes, or the usual 3, can only use 1 set (two holes) to secure drive in my NAS. Fast delivery.

Escroquerie
