Very informative
This was easy to send in and got my results in a timely manner. Crazy to think that I was eating a lot of the stuff on the red and yellow lists on a regular basis. Things I had no idea could cause issues for me personally.

Low Confidence
I got this at home test to see how it would compare after my extensive work with elimination diets to identify trigger foods. I think one of the big signs that it was not very reliable is it mentioned it cannot always detect allergies. I have a few and my trigger food list had maybe 1/3 of my allergies listed. But the list I got back was so different from my own experience that it was very hard to have any confidence in the results. The app was also very data heavy with quite a bit of data required. It was very keen on recommending their programs and products and I felt like the data given was more related to that at times than to helping give results.

Easy to register. Informative results.
This review is for the AFIL Premium 350+ Upgraded Items Test Kit, Food Sensitivity Test Kit for Adults & Kids I find the idea of this test interesting. I wouldn’t think you could get valuable information from dead hair that is cut from your head. Maybe, maybe not. It was very easy to register the kit, collect the hair and send it in. The company is also really on top of their communications about receiving and verifying your registration and checking if I had any questions. Since this is a kit I was anxious to get results from, I appreciated the communications and they seemed like they were from an actual person and not just form letters. I mailed the kit from my regular mailbox and it showed received by the company in a week. I had the results just a few days later. The results on the website have a lot of information included. I can click on any item it said I had an intolerance or mild intolerance for and it provided more specific information including why something like oatmeal might come up on the avoid list, but oat flour could be OK. My results page also had results for melatonin, cortisol, collagen, hyaluronic acid, ghrelin and leptin. I don't know how accurate the test or results are, but it's given me something to think about an follow up with my doctor on.

Don’t waste your money
First, in order for this to work your hair would need a root attached. I believe the results are provided from the detailed questions you are asked when you register your kit. The USPS has a podcast on this very subject. As far as the kit goes, a prepaid mailing label was provided. A small zip lock plastic bag and envelope for your hair sample was provided. Instructions as to how to register the test were provided.

Probably bunk
When I saw this food sensitivity test on Vine, I figured—why not? I’m always curious about these things, and since it was free, the bar to entry was basically nonexistent. I was relieved to see it only required a few hairs. Some tests claim they just need a drop of blood, but somehow I end up feeling like I need to open a vein to fill the card. Still, I tried to avoid cutting my actual hair and asked my favorite chatbot if I could just use some from the brush. The answer was a firm no, plus a heads-up that there’s no solid science behind these kinds of tests. Turns out the bot was right. More on that in a minute. I did end up snipping a few strands from the nape of my neck and mailed them in. Registering the kit was its own mini saga—the code was case-sensitive (fine), but even then it didn’t work. Customer service was responsive during business hours, and eventually we got it sorted. Then came the app. It wanted an account, but my password manager didn’t recognize the field as a password field, so I had to improvise. I typed in some random characters, figuring I’d reset it later. When the results came, I needed that password. The reset link never arrived. Thankfully, their one-time login option worked, but I’m not a fan of password resets that vanish into the void. Now, the results. This is where things got weird. Oat flour was flagged as a no, but oats were fine. Weirder still is that oat milk was OK, even though it's just oat flour mixed with water. Raisins were out, grapes were in. My mom used to say it’s all the same once it hits your stomach, and honestly, I don’t see the logic here. Bottom line: it was a fun experiment, but I wouldn’t make any dietary changes based on it. If you’re just curious and it’s free, go for it. But if you’re looking for actionable insights, maybe ask a bot with a better track record.

350+ Food sensitivity test - needs hair sample
I ordered this because I had done a similar one that covered this and it was very helpful for me so I ordered this for my daughter. It requires you to cut a small sample of hair about an inch long and put it in the envelope provided. She then filled out the request form online which asked a little medical history, and contact info, about the usual things asked for this sort of test. Then she dropped it into the mail. And in less than a week she got a text with a link to check her results. The information was very insightful, very in depth. She was very surprised by the results. The info was taken to her doctor and the doctor used it to help them build a plan to help her with these insensitivities. There was a lot on there that she had no idea from as they were things that she ate every day, but like with me, the doctor said you can have intolerances that affect you internally and never know it. Since then, she's eliminated these items and it's made a world of difference for her, so she would highly recommend this to anyone who suspects they may have food intolerances.

Fast results but pricey
Make sure to register your test first!!!! The instructions on the test are very clear. It makes it so you can’t mess anything up easily. You send in 5 pieces of hair and get your results back within a few days. I do think the price of the test is a little high. Also the foods it said I’m sensitive to, I’ve never had an issue eating before ? So I’m not sure what to think of the results. It would be cool to get one through my doctor and compare the results to one another.

A Gut Check
The Food Sensitivity Test results I received today certainly got my interest. There were foods on my safe list that surprised me because they are foods that I know cause issues, such as peas or shellfish. Two of my favorite foods - cabbage and brussel sprouts, I know, yuck, are inflammatory for me which breaks my heart. I thought cabbage is part of my blood as an Irish person. I can’t eat wheat, flour, white or wild rice anymore if I follow these results. Sugar too! What’s left? I’m hungry already! I was surprised that the test included a measurement of candida, an indicator of gut health. I was very happy to see my gut health is considered optimal. I plan to use the results as a guide of foods that I might need to pay attention to and watch for any unusual symptoms, patterns of digestive distress, or skin rashes that might happen following eating these foods.
