Another genuinely good Caldwell product..
I purchased this meter to help me with wind calls on my long-range shooting, and to monitor temps and DA throughout the match. I currently own several (many..) Caldwell products and have found them to be consistently good and well thought out products that function similarly if not the same as other more expensive items. That is NOT to say that this meter is the equivalent of a $400 dollar unit, but I don't expect it to be......What I did expect was to get a useful instrument that functioned as designed, with clear documentation and instructions, and excellent manufacturers support. I was not disappointed.I think it only fair to say that when I first received this unit I was disappointed. Everything functioned as designed, but the temperature readings were way off. I let the unit stabilize for 12 hours and compared it against two other thermometers that were certified and are always with 1/2 degree of each other. This Caldwell unit was between 8-12 degrees hotter than the other units. My immediate first step was to call Caldwell and determine if their was a method to calibrate the temp sensing unit. Unfortunately, there is not. I was set to just send it back to Amazon, but Caldwell IMMEDIATELY volunteered to send my a replacement unit. I accepted their offer, and I had the new unit in my hands within a week. The new unit works very nicely. The temp sensing is within 1-2% of my certified units and that is plenty close enough. That correlates to within 1-2 degrees on a 100 degree OAT day. I am very happy..... That kind of customer service is indispensable and deserves to be recognized. The unit's appearance is very professional. The wind turbine spins with absolutely no effort. A light exhale through my nose will activate it. When you set up the corrected altitude from a known good source (like field elevation at an airport..) the unit makes perfect DA calculations based on pressure and temperature. NOTE: this unit does not take humidity into account when calculating DA. Overall, it is EXACTLY what I was looking for at a very reasonable price.Five stars for a superior value instrument. It's not a Kestrel--- but then it's not three or four hundred dollars either.

Works great with shooting apps
First cross wind meter and love it. Was shooting in wind and it said 7.5mph. Put the value into my shooting app(strelok pro) and hit was dead on at 100 and 200 yards. Very easy to use. Does have problems reading less than 3mph but not an issue for me

Works well for the money
My only complaint is that the temperature readings are off. I've had mine for about 3-4 years now.

An accurate wind meter!
A very accurate wind meter that includes a barometer for the most accurate wind measurements. It measures current wind speed, average wind speed, maximum gust, temperature, local barometric pressure, altitude and pressure altitude. The wind vane rotates freely and can measure very low wind speeds. The barometer is so sensitive that you can observe the change of barometric pressure as you climb up one flight of stairs. It has a standard 1/4"-20 threaded hole to allow tripod mounting. Calibration of the barometer is simple if you know your true altitude. Since the barometric pressure changes frequently, frequent calibration is required if you want the most accurate altitude readings. I use it to measure local wind speed and cross wind speed before I fly my quadcopter drone.

Okay product??
The batteries seem to drain when it isn't being used over time. I've had mine about 2 years & used it only twice & the battery was dead. It's also worthless for gusting winds & long range shooting. It seems to work well, but I decided I won't shoot targets if the wind is blowing over 10 MPH. I go early in the morning to avoid wind over 10 MPH "7:00 AM".I believe it is probably accurate, but wind often can change directions down range of if the terrain changes from one point to another, especially if your shooting 300-500 yards.

Ordered a unit that works with my smart phone, and it works well
I have two other Caldwell products that work well, and I wanted this to work, too. It has all of the features that I wanted. Problem was, the main feature - accurately measuring wind speed - did not work. Was way off. Returned. Ordered a unit that works with my smart phone, and it works well. The Caldwell unit is the one I wanted, though.

Great for ballistic calculations
I am very impressed with this. I bought it thinking I was settling for a cheaper one, but it does everything I need it to for long range shooting and accurately too. It feels very sturdy and the display is easy to read.

Great Buy!!!!
I have used this for when I go out shooting in a field where the wind can jump upto 15mph and it seems reliable and accurate as far as I can tell at this point.Great buy for the price!

Flimsy, poorly made and wildly inaccurate
Flimsy, poorly made and wildly inaccurate. I regret this purchase. It's unusable junk. The battery (CR2032) is held in place on the back by a cheap plastic cover that doesn't seat properly. The battery falls out when in the field. I have to tape the battery in place. The wind speed "measurement" never settles down even when the vanes are stopped! Hold the vanes from spinning and the readings bounces between 1-12 Kmh! Even in a steady wind from a stationary fan it varies so wildly that guessing would be better!I was going to sell this junk but I felt bad that someone else would then waste money on it.
