I couldn’t be happier with my decision to purchase this Matace 2 Pack 12x14 Inch Fireproof Welding Blanket. My primarily use was for making oil lamp wicks with pint and quart jars. The 5mm thickness is just right for small square wicks and for rolling them into slightly larger round wicks. The fabric does an excellent job of absorbing and wicking the lamp oil which is ideal for lamps. Since the pack included two blankets, I put the second one to good use in the kitchen. I fashioned it into a pot holder which has turned out to be superior to any store bought ones I have ever used. I can now easily remove a 500°F cast iron pan from the oven and I don’t even feel the heat on my hand. It is an impressive level of protection! Overall I believe the Matace 2 Pack 12x14 Inch Fireproof Welding Blanket offers excellent value for the price. It’s versatile, durable, and performs beyond expectations and highly recommend!

I have tried to burn these. But I feel like they are a good deal. I picked up 2 packs on sale, for a total of 4 squares. I put them under a lithium battery charging station. I feel like I should still add a silicone mat too. But for now I feel like the space is safer than it was. -Now thats assuming the rating on these pads is accurate as it does exceed the temp that lithium fires burn. For my next trick I will plan to insulate a 3d printer with these or similar. In case you are wondering, they are reasonably thick, enough to feel like they are functional. Hardly paper thin junk. They are also soft to the touch and dont leave any bits behind on contact. The only trouble I had was getting a bit of double sided tape to stick so that they would not move around when I was working.

used this to line a leather silencer cover, suppressor cover if you’re pedantic elitist, and have never bothered to look up the fact that they were patent as “silencer” when it all started. But I digress. I decided I needed a silencer cover after firing five rounds through my new silencer, and accidentally bumped it as I was trying to make a video review because I’m not very coordinated in my old age. So after melting the skin off my left hand, thank god not the right, need to cranks things with that, but that’s neither here nor there. So I had some leather laying around, ordered this, liner the leather with it, put straps around that like a proper bondage dom, and now I don’t burn myself if I accidentally bump my silencer after shooting. Heat doesn’t transfer through this fabric to the leather much, just makes it warm, and I used metal buckles on the straps. So hey, that’s pretty damn good heat insulation by this old grunts standards.

It works mostly as advertised. Needed to solder some copper piping that was sitting way too close to wood beams. Those prevented schoring marks and kept the wood reasonably cool. It is a very lightweight material that I doubted would work before trying, but it does block most of the heat. The material is slightly grayish in the area the receives the bulk of the heat, but other than that can't tell it was used. It is way too big to use as is, but very easy to cut to a workable size, what makes it very cost effective.

The size and fit of these pads are absolutely fantastic, i was able to use them in relatively small places and they work great. as a plumber i use these things a lot and the trust i have in the fire blocking capabilities of these things has yet to let me down. they are super light weight and easy to store in work trucks. but these have got to be the best investment you can make if you do a lot of soldering

Very heat resistant and sturdy

I used it to drape over a couch that was to close to a propane wall heater. Worked perfectly.

I needed small pieces of fire rated blanket to keep heat from a torch while soldering and these are prefect and really like a super thick fabric that can bend where you need it. You could use these on many applications where heat is a concern. They are perfect and very soft.

Wanted some cheap fire proof cloth to put on a cat flap...I know it sounds weird, but I live in a flat, on first floor with so many fire regulations, so my fire door has a special fire proof cat flap in it with intumescent fire proof curtain that fills hole in a fire, but now my cat flap door has a fire proof cloth stuck to it for extra protection... Obviously I can't review if it is 100% fire proof as no fire yet!!!

Worked as expected and seems like should last a while
