This award-winning plant thrives in full sun with moderate watering and well-drained soil, making it a versatile addition for herbal teas, potpourri, and essential oils. ## Description Verbena Lemon ( Aloysia citrodora / Lippia citriodora ) is a wonderfully scented shrub plant. The leaves produce a very distinct lemon fragrance, and is fabulous when planted in a position where the scent can be appreciated, such as on or near a patio. Lilac to white flowers are produced from July to August. The leaves have a multitude of uses such as using in tea, fruit drinks, pot pouri and essential oils. It is a half hardy tender perennial, so will need winter protection, it will withstand slight frosts. It is best planted in a sheltered sunny position in the border, in moist but well drained soil, where it can be fleeced in the winter to protect it. One of the best ways to enjoy this plant is to put it in a large container, it can then be moved out of the winter cold and wet conditions into the conservatory. Verbena Lemon does not require lots of water, keep it moist, but dont over water, it prefers its roots on the drier side. It grows to 2.5m tall x spread 2.5m and can be easily pruned to any desired shape and height to keep it compact. It may well lose all of its leaves during the winter, but please prune it in Much or April when it will put on new growth. In early summer cut off some new stems, place in water in a light but not sunny place and they will readily put down roots. You can use the leaves in many receipts and teas or dry the leaves and use them in baking in the winter. Hope this helps **Q: Do I need to punch out the tops to make it bushy?** A: The plants are bushy anyway so should not need any pruning unless the stems get too long later **Q: Is it too late to plant now** A: No the weather is warmer than when I Planted mine so you should have success. **Q: Would you feed this, after planting in container?** A: If you are using new compost you shouldn't have to feed it for at least 2 months. Then just an occasional feed with a general fertiliser when it is growing is enough.
