I spent quite a bit of time comparing soundbars before buying this one because I wanted the best sound I could get without spending a fortune. It's paired with my 65-inch TV, and I honestly think it was the right choice for the money. The sound quality is a huge improvement over the built-in TV speakers. Voices are much clearer, movies have more depth, and the wireless subwoofer adds enough bass to make action movies and music much more enjoyable without being overwhelming. The rear surround speakers also make a noticeable difference and help create a much more immersive experience than a standard soundbar by itself. Setup was straightforward, everything connected without any problems, and I've had zero issues since installing it. I like buying products that give you the most value for your money, and this definitely fits that category. Unless you're building a dedicated home theater and planning to spend several times more, I think this system hits a great balance between price and performance. For my living room and 65-inch TV, it's exactly what I was looking for, and I'd definitely buy it again.

I love home audio, car audio etc. but I didn't want to break the bank, so this setup is perfect for our living room. Its not for everyone though, hope this review will help you out. During movies this setup is REALLY immersive. (Keep reading for details) MAKE SURE you change the audio setting to "Cinema" on the remote! I leave it on cinema all the time, even just watching TV or YouTube, unless I'm listening to music then I switch to the music mode. On our TV we were able to change the TV settings to allow the TV remote to adjust the volume of the LG system, and it also turns the TV off and ALL the speakers off with one button! Which is really convenient. I only use the LG remote to change the audio profile when switching from cinema to music. Its a wireless system, so of course that means Bluetooth enabled if you want to play music or maybe an audio book from your phone / tablet. Maybe you are cooking in the kitchen and have an open home layout you can watch the media on your phone and use the speaker system for the audio via Bluetooth. Use the sound bar or the LG remote to activate Bluetooth and just connect your device. This is NOT a system that requires a separate audio receiver with AM/FM. If you need to connect a vinyl player, and already have extra speakers you want to add in, then this is not the system for you. This system works great with smart TVs / projectors / game consoles / streaming devices etc. I've had no connection issues or dropped signals whatsoever and its been in use for a few months now, I'm really satisfied with the wireless setup. Even with multiple devices in my house, Xbox, PS5, PC, laptop, cell phones, tablets, wireless security cameras, even the refrigerator uses WIFI and we've had zero connection issues with this system. The subwoofer sounds great while playing music and movies, I can hear it thump from upstairs, it will fill your room with really loud sound, but it probably wont bother the neighbors. If you have the volume up a good amount you wont be able to talk with an "inside voice" to someone across the room very easily to give you an idea of how loud and powerful this setup is. Its not underwhelming in any stretch of the imagination, unless you are trying to fill a dance club with sound. With that being said this system would function very well for playing music during a reasonable sized house party with like 20 or so guests give or take. It works perfectly for my significant other and I, as we don't host often at all and its usually just us two watching the TV. We set the two satellite speakers on either side of the couch facing directly at the TV, and the surround effect sounds awesome while watching a movie or TV series. That is the optimal seating position, being directly between the left and right speakers on either side of you. If you have another couch that isn't directly facing the TV, the surround sound aspect may not sound as convincing from that position. If you always have a bunch of people in the room in different seating positions trying to watch a movie you probably need a 5.1 or 7.1 system instead. The subwoofer is powered / active so you will need to place it near an outlet, or run an extension cord, though I wouldn't want a passive subwoofer that doesn't require power as my main home theater sub. The two satellite speakers are wired together via speaker wire (L&R) and one power cord, but then they wirelessly connect to the subwoofer and sound bar. Directions are clear and easy to read with pictures and diagrams so you shouldn't have any issues. I think it's awesome having a clean looking setup without having to run speaker wire across the floor, or up the wall. Just the L&R speaker wire that is hiding behind the couch. Plenty of slack on the speaker wire about 10-20 feet if I had to guess. Once the speakers are set up and connected, you need some audio. First you need to plug an HDMI cable into the sound bar’s HDMI ARC port, then into the HDMI ARC port on your TV. That will allow audio / video to travel in BOTH directions from your TV and the sound system. Standard HDMI ports only allow audio / video to travel in one direction. If your TV is older and doesn't have an HDMI ARC port, I'm fairly certain you can use an optical cable instead, but I'm not positive as its been over 2 months since I set everything up. ***You may have to change the audio settings on your TV to activate the ARC setting from your TV*** If you have a game console / laptop / streaming device / DVD or Blu-ray player etc., you would then run a separate HDMI cord from said device into the sound bar's standard HDMI port. Then you should be good to go. I would highly recommend searching up a "surround sound test" video on YouTube at this point to make sure you have the speakers arranged correctly. If you are using a projector with Bluetooth capability, you can wirelessly connect the projector to the sound bar for your audio. If your projector does not have Bluetooth, you can use an Amazon Firestick with Bluetooth capability. You would just connect the Firestick to the projector, and then use the Bluetooth on the Firestick to connect to the sound bar for your audio. Note older Firesticks do not have Bluetooth. If your video is on a USB flash drive or some other USB drive, you should be able to connect the drive to your projector and then run an HDMI cord into one of the HDMI ports on the sound bar, though I have not tested this myself. In theory you should also be able to use a USB Bluetooth transmitter / receiver plugged into your projector to wirelessly connect to the sound bar for audio instead. From the optimal seating position, as explained above, the sound is awesome! You can hear a vehicle in a movie passing from left to right in real time, or gunshots that sound like they are ricocheting around you! Its really cool, in my opinion better than a movie theater because you get to sit in the perfect position at home and its more of an intimate experience if that makes sense. Another example is from "House of the Dragon" TV series (no spoilers), while the new dragon riders were down in the dragons pit, it was all quiet and eerie, then some small rocks fall down in the distance (you don't even see them fall on screen) and we had to look around our room for a second, as we thought something really fell down in real life! Such a cool experience! If you were watching that on regular TV speakers you wouldn't even notice those little details, with this setup it sounded like the rocks fell down right next to you. I wouldn't want to watch a movie without this type of experience moving forward because you are really missing out on a big part of the emersion.

Okay, so heres the deal. I have not owned a surround sound in probably 10 years because of either price or just not thinking of getting one. Well i wanted one for my apartment and after a ton of research and reviews i stumbled on this LG one. My first thing im going to say is these are NOT wireless for anyone wondering. The sound bar you need power cord, and HDMI arc etc and thats obvious, the sub woofer is power cord only, and the rear speakers one needs a power cord, and the other does not it hooks up to the other one with speaker wire ( which was not mentioned) thats why i didnt give it 5 stars because i wanted wireless ( i almost bought roku speakers) but for those, sound bar, and sub together would have been well over 600 bucks so opted for this system. Anyways, i have used it for two weeks now and the sound is better than i expected. The bar sounds good, and the speakers are loud and sound great during movies and gaming. Normal tv and certain shows it does not provide constant sound which is a bummer but over its pretty good. The sub is not loud, and does not give off alot of bass, and the instructions are virtually worthless in regards to figuring out how to adjust any of them or even if you can. I would purchase again considering the price when on sale i think it was $179 or so overall im happy for what it is.

This is my first soundbar I ever bought in my life. I’m glad I got it with the rear speakers. It feels like I’m in a movie theater! It was a plug and play set up with my LG c5 oled and it sounds amazing! I immediately noticed a huge improvement with the sound quality. I recommend to keep the setting on cinema mode for the best sound. When I listen to music I change it to ai sound mode pro or whatever it’s called. The rear speakers have one screw point to mount it. The equipment included two small screws for this so make sure you don’t lose them. I ordered two stands for the rear speakers and I have them at both ends of my couch. The wire connecting the two rear speakers are under the couch so it doesn’t look bad. I was worried that the rear speakers wouldn’t work since my couch reclines but as you can see they look ok. Just need to have them to the side. Before you connect the rear speakers you download the qthin LG app and it will show you how to pair them to the soundbar. I connected the soundbar with the hdmi arc port on my tv. Whenever I turn on/off my tv the speakers will automatically do the same. For $200(soundbar)+$45 for my rear speaker stands this was an awesome deal. If you have an LG tv the setup is super simple no need to read the directions just plug and play! Now my girlfriend yells at me all the time because the tv is so loud. I haven’t tried my ps5 with it yet I’m sure it will be great!

The LG S40TR is a strong contender! I really like the sound and easy to setup soundbar and rear speakers. Voice clarity is good enough and packs a punch with action scenes.

Let me start with "WOW" for $200 you get 3 wireless speakers and a 30 ft speaker cable to the 2nd rear speaker to power it up. At 1st after I got it setup and all the speakers are paired with the sound bar there was no sound from the rear speakers. You must download the LG App and install it. It will assist you with making the BT connection from phone to SB. There is a box in the settings where you click on to turn the rears on. And then "BAM" the sound came on and it was surprisingly loud then I ever expected. For $200 the value for the money 💰 is phenomenal in my opinion. All the devices are all BT connection able and you get a little remote with it. Once connected it will turn on/off with the tv power. Every day I am blown away how great this little system is and what a great deal it was and still is. If I can get 3-5+ years out of something that I have purchased that's under $500. I usually consider that a win. Thank you

I simply can't believe the good reviews on this sound bar. LG should stick to kitchen appliances. Let me lead into this a bit. I bought an LG TV, my first LG TV, about a year ago. Not really pleased with it but that's not the review here. I already owned a Visio sound bar so I hooked it up to the TV. An optical out was the only wire that hooked my sound bar to the TV. Would not work. Not wanting to spend a lot of money on a new sound bar I found a reasonable one on Amazon and purchased it. Really liked the way it sounded but after about 5 minutes the TV would go haywire. It would play for about 5-10 seconds then the screen would go black and a circle would go around in the middle of the screen for 20-30 seconds, play for another 5-10 and then repeat. It was as if the internet was turning on and off. Under warranty a repair guy came by and rebuilt the TV. New Motherboard, and internet parts. No change. I ended up giving that sounder to my son and it sounds GREAT on his Samsung. I don't hear great and the TV was just not loud enough for me to hear movies and such so I decided that maybe I would shop for a third sound bar but maybe an LG. Maybe LG actually makes one that works with their own TVs. Sadly I had to pay about $100 more for the LG than I did for the generic brand I bought and gave to my son. Well it arrived and to my surprise, it actually worked with the LG TV. Well sorta. And I am tired of swapping sound bars at this point in time but what a working piece of junk! Someone else said it sounded like a louder version of the TV speakers. I totally agree. No great theater sound. Just louder. But the kicker is the way this thing works. It has a remote without a lot of options. The absolute stupid part is that there are no displays on the screen to show you what's going on with the sound. Want to change the balance, volume, add some base? Just keep pushing buttons and maybe you will figure it out. But wait, LG has an app for that! That's right, why should they spend any money making a nice sound bar with screen graphics, like every other one I've owned when they can get you to use your very own cell phone??? So you want to relax and watch a movie. Got you popcorn, got your beer, TV remote, sound bar remote and oh yeah, don't forget your cell phone so you can see what the sounder bar remote is doing to your TV when you push the buttons on the sound bar remote. Why should I have to have a lap full of remotes and my cell phone to watch TV? Well it really doesn't matter anyway, when I open that app now it says that there is no sound bar connected. Then there's the latency. When using the sound bar the sound is out of sync with the picture on the screen. Not bad but I never had that issue with other sound bars. And, if you happen to unmute the TV Speakers they are not in sync either and you get a crazy echo. So, it's TV or Sound bar but never together. It's all like 1980's technology. Actually after writing this I might look and see if I am still inside the return window and get this thing out of my house. It is no fun to deal with and I am very sad to have spent the money. I guess those who love this sound bar a gave it 5 stars have never owned another brand. I would not even recommend this thing to a hearing challenged person.
