This is a very good and sturdy hose reel. My only complaint is the difficulty attaching it to the house. It would be better if it would detach from the mounting bracket. Overall, it retracts very well and without issues. The nozzle provided is pretty decent for my usage. It has a nice appearance that kind of blends in with my house.

Below is my original review where I had reached out to them thru email. Once I posted a review, someone on their end reached out to me thru Amazon's messaging system and was helpful in resolving the issue. They provided me with a metal bracket and it is perfect for supporting the hose and reel. It was easy to install - I installed it on a brick wall. Just make sure to have the correct masonry bits, and don't drill into the mortar. I've seen others install it on a post. A retractable hose is so convenient and you never have to worry about tripping over it. The entire reel/hose slips up off the bracket so it can be stored inside thru the winter. The bracket that is mounted on a wall/post to hold this pretty heavy hose is made of plastic. The weight of the hose and casing broke mine within a couple weeks. It makes no sense to expect a chunk of plastic to hold up to that much weight. After many emails, no one at Giraffe seemed to know if the metal bracket that is on amazon would work with this model (eventually someone there said no, but that they were now producing a metal one for $30). Overall, it was a bad purchase - over $100 for the hose, then about $30 more for mortar drill bits, anchors...$30 more for the metal bracket after the plastic one broke...$30 more for new fresh drill bits, screws/anchors... Functionally, it works as designed. The concept of having the hose retract and be out of the way is great, but seems like not much thought went into the design. Customer service needs better training. Should not take multiple emails to get a simple answer.

I’ve had this Giraffe Tools Retractable Garden Hose Reel mounted on my porch for just under a year now and I’m overall very happy with it. Mounting was super easy I attached it to a wooden porch support post and the included hardware worked perfectly. Took maybe 15 minutes total with a drill and level — no issues at all. The swivel feature is excellent. The whole reel turns smoothly so the hose doesn’t get twisted or kinked no matter which direction I’m watering. That’s a big convenience I didn’t realize I needed until I had it. The retraction mechanism works really well too. The hose pulls out smoothly and retracts neatly without any tangling or fighting me. It’s satisfying to use. The 100ft hose length is more than enough for my yard and garden beds. I can easily reach every corner of my property without dragging around a heavy hose. The only real downside is the spray gun that comes with it. It feels cheaper than the rest of the reel and unfortunately cracked after one season of regular use. I just replaced it with a better one and the reel itself continues to work great. Overall this is a nicely built hose reel — sturdy, well-designed, and reliable. I’d still recommend it, especially if you plan to upgrade the nozzle anyway. Definitely a 4-star product for me.

Update: Giraffe Tools saw my review and sent me a full refund on the replacement hose I purchased, without even being asked! Fantastic customer service on a product that is so much easier to use than the manual hose reels I've had in the past! Kudos to Grace at Giraffe Tools for making me a happy customer! Original post: I loved the convenience of this hose so much that I bought two more for my two other outdoor spigots. However, the hose in this one (the 1st one I bought three years ago) has now begun to fail. Three separate places are bulging and will soon rupture (see photos). And yes, I turned the water off and relieved the pressure each and every time I was finished using it. I also stored it indoors during the winter temperatures. Our water pressure is not overly high. On the positive side, the retraction mechanism still works perfectly.

Working good but not great, it's pull back function sometimes pulls back hose when I need it to stop. My main complain is about the nozzle - my broke and start leaking after half a year. They sent me a replacement and now second one start leaking too - broken plastic inside the nozzle. Just replaced with Walmart no brand one. Company should be ashamed of putting such low quality "Giraffe" branded nozzle on good in the general product.

The shipping was a little slow by comparison to most Amazon orders. Easy to install, good instructions and works great. I do with I would have purchased the model with 5/8” hose. I’ll likely buy another for the other side of the house.

Thus far I’m loving this product. The hose length is perfect for me. The quality is very good, durable and not flimsy. But it’s the ease of retracting that I enjoy the most! I got so tired of rolling up my hose into the hose box, that never seemed to stay still while rewinding!! With this reel, you just give it a lite pull and it retracts on its own, while drawing the excess water left in the hose out!! I’m very happy. I hope it lasts!! UPDATE: I experienced a slight problem with the hose reel. The hose would no longer retract. I contacted the company and I received the best Customer Service I’ve experienced in a long time. They were very receptive of the problem. They provided specific instructions on what I needed to do (send email with information & video) and told me I would hear something back within 48 hours. When I didn’t hear anything back after the 48 hours, I called again and found that they did not receive my email. The agent then took my email address sent me an email and ask that I just respond to that with my information while he was on the phone. Want he received it, he immediately sent it to the area that needed to handle it with a note to push it through immediately, and I heard from them the next day. Bottom line, I received a new hose reel. It’s easy to stand behind your product when you know you make a great product. Giraffe tools can offer excellent customer service because they make excellent products!

I bought this in May 2022. It is an okay product. Over time the retraction component will wear down (which I am highly disappointed in how quickly). In my circumstance, it won't retract the last 10' or so feet. I am also noticing there is a small drip starting to happen internally to the box. It is extremely difficult and cumbersome to take the box apart to address any issue inside the box. Frankly, its not worth the hassle to take it apart and fix it, I did that once and won't do that again. Its a decent product for the price, but it just won't stand up over time. Good things about the product: - Hose quality, no rips, tears, etc. (would love a model with a flexzilla type hose) - Swivel feature (it could swivel better with different components, but does the job for the price) - Fairly compact (I have mine mounted inside my garage on the wall) - 2 year warranty Bad things about the product: - Retractable feature (it is very fast until it gets towards the end and then it slows down, or won't finish retracting the full length - Not owner friendly to work on, any internal components are not meant to be accessed easily - Internal hose connection is dripping - Long-term durability (issued started arising about 1 year of ownership) -

Defective item replaced within two weeks, and works fine now. I appreciated the response from the vendor.

My husband and I both love them. So we bought a second one for our second outdoor faucet.

I purshased thr 1/2 inch hose and first impressions were good. Like every hose set up like this is theres alot of plastic and hose qualtiy remans to be seen but doesnt look very durable should a vehicle run over it. Howere being plastic nothing seems too flimsy which was a concern when ordering. I should have gone with the 5/8 hose cause i notice a slight difference in water presure and as i run water for the sprinkler my machine makes a humming noise but doesnt bother me at the moment just glad yhere no loose hose on the ground.
