The most helpful item purchased for hip replacement surgery
Of all the tools purchased for my hip replacement surgery, the Vive Raised Toilet Seat has been the most helpful. After using a standard height toilet before coming home from the hospital, I know for certain I would not have wanted to be without this seat at home! The 3.5 inch additional height is just right. It installed easily & we put our current seat/lid combo right on top of it. It fits our standard toilet perfectly & is very secure. This model does not come with bars but the toilet is so close to the sink, grab bars were not needed. And having a walker for the first couple of weeks would have made bars moot anyway. It is easy to clean as well. Just spray with cleaner/disinfectant & wipe dry. Surgery was 5 weeks ago & so far, this seat is holding up perfectly. Make sure you measure your toilet before purchase to determine if you need standard or elongated. Worth the price & would recommend this elevated toilet seat. Especially if you are having hip replacement surgery.

Great toilet seat raised
Well, once again, this was a very easy install. It was easy to put on easy to turn the knob to make it very tight on the toilet so you didn’t have to worry about slipping and sliding the handles are very sturdy and my husband‘s been able to lift himself up with no problem and no fear. It’s a great product. Well done well made good work.!

Durability may not be the best/cheap hardware too
Update to my earlier review to add: Also noted: I needed to replace a broken nylon washer on the seat hinge that I had before I bought the Vive riser, and just now found out how bad the rusty hardware Vive supplies! The long bolt was rusty, as was the metal washer, and wing nut, and that I had some difficulty removing because of the corrosion. So, if you do buy the Vive riser, then it would be a good idea to coat the hardware with something that might help rust from forming like silicone spray or at least petroleum jelly. I'm sure there are others better suited too. This happened in only 3 years of use, so beware of this seemingly minor detail that can bite you later if you aren't aware like me, until you are! We have had this for a little over 3 years (bought 2020), and it has served us well, except that it started to deform a bit with dimples in the top from the seat after a short while, and then maybe a year after, it started to show cracks in the top on either side where the toilet seat rested. I bought this because it was rated to 350 pounds, and that's about what I was at my heaviest weight, so it should have held up better than it has. And now, the price is almost double of what I paid 3 years ago, though that does fluctuate a bit on Amazon. I like the Vive company, but will not buy this one again, but will go with the OasisSpace riser instead this time, even though it's only rated to 300 pounds, but I am a little below that now, so it should be fine. And the OasisSpace riser is at least $25 less than the Vive. Hopefully it is made a little better than the Vive for durability. But these hinged risers are definitely the way to go, since they are so much easier to keep them clean on the underside. And my knees have never been more thankful too! Initial revue below: I bought this mainly because of a bad knee that was making it so hard to stand up after sitting on a too low toilet. This is a real blessing, and just what I needed. That 3-1/2 inches makes a big difference! Also, this one was one of the only ones rated to 350 pounds, so my 325 weight was easily covered. It is very sturdy, though you do need to tighten the screws while holding the wingnut below the bowl, every now and again, as it will loosen a little through use. It doesn't become unstable, but shifts a little sometimes, so it's good to keep that screwdriver handy and not let it get too loose. The handy hinged version like these is the way to go with a riser, for sure. No doubt this will probably help some with back problems and hip problems too, if they hurt when you get up or sit down. Orthopedic doctors offices sometimes have higher chairs for those with problems in their waiting rooms, I have discovered, thankfully. So the height increase does work! This seems by all indications to be a quality product, that is built very well, is easy to install, use and clean, and will last a long time. What is also nice is that it allows the full size of the bowl to be usable, unlike those cheaper clamped on versions that have a much smaller opening to the bowl because of their design. We have one like that in the basement that will probably get tossed now, and I did not like using it, nor trying to clean it or having to remove it to clean under that kind of seat riser. You can add handles to this, or maybe better, the portable one that looks like a walker if you still need help rising after use. Those do not need to be installed, like the handles that can be added to the seat. I plan on adding that sometime, if needed. When back trouble hits, sometimes sitting down is painful too, along with getting up. So assistance handles would help. But this Vive toilet seat riser is the smart first step to helping yourself.

Great product, solid and sturdy with my Kohler round bowl.
I am 4 days following my total knee replacement and use this seat on my standard height Kohler round bowl low-profile tank commode. The height of this unit is a bit higher than most (about 5 rather than 4 inches) which makes it easier to use and the handles are very secure and helpful. The unit is made of hard plastic, sturdy (I'm 6'2", 245 lbs) and easy to clean. It fit very securely, locking in firmly below the bowl rim with absolutely no movement at any time during use. or getting on and off. The regular seat remains in place and raised in back of the unit, so if you have inquisitive pets, put a book or board over the opening to avoid incidents. For men, as the opening is not large, I'd suggest using a urinal instead when standing; however the raised seat is very quick to remove and re-install if other family members need to use the commode. One note, as I'm tall and still using the operative leg knee immobilizer, the height and angle require elevating that leg a bit when seated, such as as with an unopened double stack of TP rolls or a sturdy box of the same height. I would definitely recommend this unit although every commode and personal situation is unique. I will certainly use it again when I get the other knee done.

Does not fit elongated bowl- back height too short, so screwing raises the entire unit off bowl
This is a great size and would have been absolutely perfect if it could lock to the bowl. I purchased this for my mom, who has extremely bad arthritis in her hip, so getting up from a low sitting position is extremely painful and slow. This seat raises her butt to a much easier to manage position. So despite not being able to lock, she's still able to use it, just sitting on top of the bowl. Even without being able to lock it, it still works, if wobbly, thus I'm giving it 3 stars. The material is a single piece that is easy to lift off and rinse in the shower to clean. The problem is that the porcelain rim around her standard elongated toilet is 4" deep, whereas the back 'lip' on this seat is roughly 3" deep. This means that there is no way to catch the 'lip' in the back at all, it just sits in the bowl. If you turn the front screw, the more you turn, the more the seat lifts up off the toilet itself, which makes it dangerous. So for this to work with her standard elongated bowl is to loosen the front screw, and simply sit it on the bowl, where it wobbles, because the only points it's in the bowl is the very short front and back lip. BEFORE you buy, measure that porcelain rim around your toilet. In the front of this, there is a screw that tightens, but what it's tightening is to that rim, and it's roughly 3". If your rim is like my mom's, 4" deep, there's no way it can 'catch' under that rim, it's too short. I would have given this 4 stars if the Seller had shown the HEIGHT of the back rim catcher, and explained that your rim needs to be less than 3" but they don't above. I would not have bought it, and then it wouldn't have gotten 3 stars. You have no way to know this won't fit til after you buy it and put it on your toilet, so returns are a problem. My mom's toilet came standard when they built the house, it's not a special model and all her toilets have the same rim, it's a typical builders toilet for a home built in the late 1990s. She loves the size and comfort, so we are keeping it. But I worry that she can tip it over and fall while lifting up off the seat by the wobbly handles, because it's just sitting on top, and only 2 small front and back pieces protrude into the bowl, its not attached anywhere. So MEASURE YOUR TOILET RIM BEFORE YOU BUY!!!

You are going to be glad that you read this review
Like most savvy Amazon shoppers, I always look for the products with the most number of favorable reviews, as did this "Raised Toilet Seat by Vive." So I ordered one for the single toilet in my house that is used by my elderly father who lives with me, and who is recovering from a stroke. But when my item arrived, it was defective. The threads on the hand-turned screw, which is what is used to grip the product to your toilet, were stripped at one end, perhaps by a previous buyer who tried to fit it onto a toilet that was not accommodating. Since I could not tighten that screw, I returned the item to Amazon, and wondered if I should take a chance on buying a second one. However, I discovered another Raised Toilet Seat that looked identical to the one I had just returned, only it was being sold by a different company, and instead of the price being $59.99, it was $40.99. That is a savings of $19. So I ordered it, and sure enough, it was IDENTICAL to the one I had purchased for $19 more, and this one was not defective. I've attached a photo of them both side-by-side. Again, they are IDENTICAL. As far as the quality of the product itself goes, I'm satisfied. It arrives in three pieces, and you don't need to read the directions to figure out how to connect the two side arms to the seat itself. And you really don't need to read the directions to install it on your toilet. From the time I opened the box until the time it was installed was about 60 seconds. No tools needed, just two working hands. To un-install it from your toilet for cleaning takes 5 seconds. It raised my 14" toilet to 19." I tried it out myself, and it is quite sturdy, stable, and comfy. Although some of the reviewers complain that the hole is too small for a man, I'm a man, 6 feet tall and 185 pounds. I had no trouble taking care of business. Maybe if you can't fit in your mirror this product might be too small for you. So I recommend this raised toilet seat, but I recommend that you buy the one for $40.99, which is the EVA Medical Elevated Raised Toilet Seat & Commode Seat Riser sold by Med Shop and Beyond. OK, I just saved you $19. Please say a prayer for my dad. Thanks. Added Note: Just found what looks like another identical seat the can be purchased for just $26.22 here on Amazon: See the "Drive Medical Elevated Raised Toilet Seat with Removable Padded Arms, Standard Seat" by Drive Medical... Now you've saved $33.77!

PRACTICO

Altamente recomendable
