(Having said that, that mesh disk has actually been a pleasant surprise)* We see a more homogeneous extraction with the mesh, so now we also use the mesh in the normal double portafilter.* Another unexpected advantage of that mesh disk is that we get almost no dirt into the back-flushing channel. We noticed +90% less dirt while doing the normal rinsing after each espresso.Cons:* It doesn't fit as well as the original portafilters — it's a big tight, i.e., we cannot "screw" it in place all the way as with the original ones (of which I have two sets)* It doesn't leak, but sometimes we feel it's best to hold the handle while brewing, just in case the portafilter loosens / unscrews and flyes all over.
