TROPICA - Golden Shower Tree / Golden Cassia (Cassia fistula) - 20 SeedsWorth knowing: Cultivated as an ornamental plant in India for almost more than 2000 years, the beautiful bush or small tree, respectively, is the most popular of all Cassia species, but rarely to be found in Europe. The golden shower tree belongs to the carob tree family developing into an imposing tree within its natural habitat. Here, the plant reaches a height of 1,5-2,5 metres and produces drooping, 30 cm long, shining yellow racemes in mid and late summer. The plant is not to be confused with the poisonous golden rain (Laburnum). The Indian golden shower tree is also called manna tree or tube cassia in vernacular due to the fact that the plant does develop 40 cm long, tube-shaped pods.Origin: Indigenous to India and Sri Lanka – today, the golden tree shower is distributed over the whole Tropical regions. Propagation: The seeds can be started indoors at any time throughout the year. The rather hard-skinned seeds should be roughen with sandpaper, be left to soak in water at room temperature for 24 hours and then be planted 1 cm deep into moist cultivation soil. Germination starts after 2-5 weeks.Place / Light: Cassia love bright to full sunny locations. Care: Young plants should already be shortened about on third after 3 months, so that pot and tub plants, respectively, with plenty of shoots will develop. Water a lot during summer and supply the plant with tub plant fertilizer every 2 weeks from May until October. Winter period: The lowest temperature would be slightly above 0°C. A bright position with temperatures of 8°-15°C is best during winter. Otherwise the plant will shed its leaves and will develop leaves and flowers late the next year. Bonsai Suitability: Yes
