A new way of thinking about (and celebrating!) your child during these critical years! Congrats— you’ re having a teen! No, really— congratulations! You’re entering one of the most exciting, important phases of parenting. These years are your best opportunity to guide your child toward a thriving adulthood and strengthen your relationship with them for life. This guide will help you understand, encourage, support, love, and, yes, even celebrate your teen! The teen years may bring challenges. This book prepares you to meet those challenges as a family while staying firmly committed to raising a good person. Review: Highly recommend - As the parent of teen boys, I can tell you it’s tempting to let your kids have the distance they seem to be asking for. We all know how important it is to stay involved in their lives and monitor the decisions they make during the teenage years. Reading this book has reinvigorated my resolve by giving me tools to keep communication and mutual trust on track. The trickiest part of teenage parenting is laid out in the chapter “When to jump in(and when to watch from a distance)". This book opens your eyes, makes you really think about how to be a parent that guides and loves their kids toward becoming resilient, caring adults. Anyone considering reading this book is likely already a good parent and should take the time to read it and become even better at the most important job you will ever have. Review: As always Kenneth Ginsburg brings useful information - Kenneth Ginsburg is an amazing expect to follow, I ran into years ago at a trauma convention in MKE and have based my work in substance abuse and trauma on his foundation on of the 7cs and read try to keep up with anything he puts outs as it really does translate in many ways to those who struggle with substance abuse and addiction.

Positive and Practical
As a professional in the field, I approach parenting books skeptically, but this one is absolutely fantastic. The author uses a strength-based approach, debunking unhelpful myths that keep families from engaging with each other helpfully and developmentally during the adolescent years. I have a small group of books that are my go-to’s for recommendations—and this just made the list.

Refreshing Positive Perspective on Raising Teens; Fantastic Guidance for Parents
Congrats – You’re Having a Teen provides a refreshing perspective on the value of having a positive mindset about the astounding growth that happens during the teen years. I loved Dr. Ginsburg’s viewpoint on why we should strive to be “lighthouse” parents guiding our children to become wonderful caring adults. So much incredible wisdom about how to effectively parent teens. I hope everyone who parents a teen or cares about teens will read this book. Highly recommended!

Great mom gift
I gifted this to a mom of twin boys turning 13! She loves it. She plans to read it with her husband to enlighten them both.
