Great Reel
If you’re looking for a reel in the $50 price range, it’s hard to recommend anything better than the Piscifun Viper X size 500-5000. The drag system is incredibly smooth, making it easy to fight fish with confidence, while the lightweight design keeps it comfortable to use during long days on the water. Despite its low price, the reel feels solid and well-built, with quality materials that don’t feel cheap or flimsy. The Viper X is versatile enough for beginners learning the basics and experienced anglers who want a dependable setup. It handles a wide range of line sizes, from 4–12 lb mono/fluorocarbon to 10–20 lb braid(for size 2000), giving it plenty of versatility for bass, trout, and other freshwater species. The reel is smooth, durable, and reliable, making it one of the best values available in its price range. After owning and using it, I have absolutely no regrets purchasing it, and it continues to outperform many reels that cost much more.

Excellent reels, and not just for the price
This is a preliminary review of these reels. I have recently bought three of them, one 500 and two 1000 models. I took them fishing once so far but didn’t catch any fish. However I can say that they are very smooth while using them. I’m directly comparing them to my Daiwa Fuego LT and Exceler LT reels and they are just as smooth and solid feeling as those more expensive reels, but for less than half the cost. What’s more, the Viper X also has a sealed, carbon drag whereas the Daiwas do not. These Viper X reels are well built, and the fit and finish on them is well done also. The cosmetics of the reels are good to go along with the quality, they have just the right amount of flashiness without being overdone or being too plain. Then there’s other little things like the knurled spool for braid, or just the line keeper clip on the spool for storing the tag end of the line when removing the spool, instead of that being triangular like others it is round which makes it far easier to get it to catch and hold the line. That’s not a big thing but it is still a nice touch. Even the EVA foam grip, all of these things add up to make these reels feel like you really have something that’s a cut above others in this same price range, and even above others costing more. Further, these reels are among the lightest in their size range, the 500 weighing 5.4oz and the 1000 weighing 6.0oz. They feel light as a feather. I have three of these reels and they are loaded with 2 pound, 4 pound, and 6 pound mono lines. All cast and retrieve smoothly with good line management. Time will tell how they perform with a fish on the line, but for now I’m very satisfied with them and WILL be buying more for replacements of other reels as well as for pairing up with new rods.

Affordable Freshwater Reel
I purchased a 4k and the round handle was a change; but, I like it. Its also smooth on retrieve. Its a 4k so being light is not expected (neither is being heavy) but coming in at a little ove 10oz. keeps it in the 1k casts a day range (Muskellunge here I come!). The gearing is what I call medium (haha) at 6:2, so you can elbow grease it up to fast, or get Obi-Wan on it and slow it down. Good Reel, Good Price... Fresh water Strippers & big Pike... Suitable. Buy it, You'll Like It.

No anti-reverse disengage lever
I bought this reel for my wife to use. I took it out today to see how it matched up to a new rod. All seems well. For an inexpensive reel, it casted nicely and the drag felt smooth. The bail kicks back easily. The retrieve was very smooth and silent but unfortunately, not catching anything, I didn't get to load test it. :) My one knock on it is that it is the only reel I own that does not have a lever to disengage the one-way clutch. My wife will often accidently crank the lure too far in. On the old reels, she knows to flip the lever and let a little line out. She'll have to get used to this one. I was surprised Piscifun did not include the lever function on this reel as even the next lower model series (Flame) includes it. Certainly not a major issue, just letting you all know in case like me, you didn't look closely at the photos before ordering.

Great reel for a great price
The reel is wonderful and smooth as butter. The build quality seems great. The reel is a good looking reel and doesn't look or feel cheap. I'm sure that it would be versatikenfor crappie, bass and maybe a catfish. Customer service is friendly. I will be buying more of these reels. Would highly recommend.

Value per $ is hard to match
With price of traditional brands becoming exorbitant, did my research and made the jump. This is a very fine reel. Put it through the paces at my local hole and very pleased. Paired with Daiwa AIRD rod and spooked with 20lb braid. Casts weightless fluke farther than the Daiwa Regal. At half the price I’d say they seem on par. Time will tell on durability. Very smooth, fast, quiet, smooth drag. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fluke, drop shot, wacky rig or the like setup.

Solid and smooth functioning reel.
Solid build. Looks great online, looks even better when you take it out of the box and hold it. A little shorter than my Penn 4500SS graphite. I like the line keeper on the spool. Very smooth and quiet operation. I have to get used to the location of the anti-reverse switch. Just loaded up some 12 lb mono and will take it for a spin soon. Five stars for now. I Will do a followup review once I get a couple of hundred casts on it. Hope it lasts as long as my Penn. There is an illustrated parts breakdown for this reel but I couldn't find anything on their website for ordering parts if I need to repair something. Price point for this reel is perfect. I have a 4 pc Piscifun travel rod that I will use it on. Should be able to handle all the saltwater fish I usually catch from shore.
