It’s lightweight, easy to set up, and the included 9V batteries are a nice touch so you can use it right out of the box. I’ve used it to trace a couple of open and short circuits on 12V car wiring, and the tone/LED indicators work pretty well once you get used to adjusting the sensitivity. The probe is flexible enough to reach tighter spots, and I was able to follow wiring harnesses without stripping insulation, which saved a lot of time. The tool isn’t perfect — the signal can be faint at times if the wire is shielded or buried deep in a harness, so you have to reposition the probe and tweak the sensitivity knob. It also seems to depend heavily on having fresh batteries. But once you figure out how it likes to be used, it becomes a pretty reliable helper for DIY troubleshooting. Overall, for around twenty bucks, it’s a solid little wire tracer that does what it claims.
