This magnolia arrived with 1 small leaf bud. Despite repotting and care it died. Disappointing as it was a gift.

I waited few months with submitting review to check how the plant will do in time. It came (end of March) with no delays, packed nicely... but was smaller than I'd wished (40cm high ish). There were no leaves, just bare, very thin "branches" (some 1-2mm diameter slim) and obviousely no flower buds, but none were expected. I planted it according to the instructions (I believe) and watered at first regurarly. I also used a fertiliser once every 2 weeks. At the beginning of April there were few cold nights so I covered my magnolia for a night (just put the cardboard box that it arrived in on) but I feared it got too cold and wouldn't survive. Initially there were no improvements and my hopes were low, but tiny buds appeared and after few weeks became bigger and the first awaited tiny leaves developed. Again, they were getting larger very slowly and there were very little new ones - until mid July. Warm days came and some rains - at the end of July it became suddenly all covered in healthy looking deep green large leaves :) I am convinved now it will survive, I will probably need to protect it for the winter, but I am pleased with it. The only thing I regret is not searching a bit more thoroughly before purchase and finding a bigger tree, as few weeks later I found a very decent looking tree in my local garden centre, almost my own hight with pot, strong (would say the main trunk was 20mm diameter ish)... with few flowers alredy on! And the whole tree+pot was on sale for £30, which comparing to this amazon £20 purchase - seemed much better value for money. At the moment difficult to guess how many summers will take this one to show first flower, fingers crossed! Edit: plant purchased in March 2019 - had no flowers in April. In April 2020 - there was one, very first flower :) April 2021 - we had 10 lovely flowers, and I realised they have a scent! Beautiful sweet rich scent. Plant is still very small, but it seems it's doing well!

Excellent purchase and great delivery magnolia Susan is beautiful definitely buy again.

Arrived yesterday and the compost was loose. Fairly obvious that it had been re-planted in a hurry and not settled in. I have left it in the garden in the original state as it seems dead but hopefully, it might bud. I can not see any buds apart from a single microscopic one and a stem which is green. Hope springs eternal...if it does not show signs of life...!
