A surprisingly high quality monopod, solid, sturdy and comfortable to use. Could also be a walking stick! :)
I find myself shooting more and more video with my cameras. While with the advent of modern optical image stabilization, handheld video can be of very high quality, holding a camera (and particularly a not-particularly-lightweight DSLR) still for any amount of time becomes tiring, and the video will suffer as a result. Hauling around a full-size tripod is tiring and a hassle. This monopod is the perfect answer. Your camera quickly attaches to the top, you extend the telescopic leg to the required height, and you have perfectly stable video without the fatigue of holding your camera in place. The leg itself is made of hollow aluminum with three friction locks to lock the individual telescoping pieces in place. Once locked, it is very sturdy, with no movement of any kind. You can adjust the overall length to any height you wish - it locks into position once you extend it to the height you desire. The thick foam grip allows you to easily control steady, smooth panning motion, and you can do a bit of tilt as well by pushing the monopod forward or back. I did purchase a small ball joint adapter to screw to the top, which allows the camera to move independently of the monopod when more flexibility is required. The foot of the monopod is rubber, and the rubber foot can be screwed in, exposing a metal point, good for use on slippery surfaces such as ice. While useful for shooting steady video, it is also excellent for shooting in low light with slow shutter speeds where any movement turns the picture blurry, or for long telephoto shots where slight camera movement can introduce blur into the picture. Some people have reported problems with the threaded screw at the top coming loose and not being able to remove the camera, I have not experienced this issue. The monopod comes with a fitted carrying bag with an attached shoulder strap. Once collapsed, measuring around 18 inches long, you can put it in the bag, sling it over your shoulder and pretty much forget it's there. I haven't tried it, but looking at the solid foot (and metal spike) as well as the thick foam grip, I've thought more than once that it could also function as a walking stick. So if you're looking for an inexpensive, light, portable walking stick, perhaps this might be an option. Overall a good purchase, I'm glad I bought it - and my videos are much better for it!

Solid Monopod
A basic but very nice monopod. Bought this to support a fairly heavy 200mm lens while shooting action and it worked perfectly. I'm not a monopod expert, but this one is solid. The extension locks are tight and yet easy to open and close. Padded grip at the top is nice and the bottom spike did a great job holding position. Gets as small as you might expect when retracted and the carrying bag is a plus.

its okay
i mean its the cheapest garbage you could possibly buy from a "name brand" so for that being the bar its pretty good. would not buy another but for $17 kinda cant go wrong given its cheap to replace when i break it as opposed to other options. one of the clips is already less grippy than the others out of the box.

Easing the movements
Wonderful tool! It is solid and allows me to carry the camera over the shoulder while walking around. It solves the shaking issue and makes it more flexible in terms of movement.

Nice and strong - 4 year update
Perfect size, nice weight, and stronger than I expected. Easily helps steady my D800 with Tamron 70-300 lens, with a little weight added from me to hold it steady. I've added a small ballhead to give me a little more flexibility in positioning. The included case is very nice, but doesn't allow any extra space for the attached ballhead. I still use it, as I can usually leave the ballhead stick out of the zipper. NEW INFORMATION: (July 19, 2019) After using this monopod for about 4 years, I am noticing a slight wiggle below the point where I've mounted my ballhead. Considering that I've been using this monopod to hold a small camcorder (Sony AX100), and in many cases, using the monopod as a boom arm to extend the positioning of the camcorder, I consider this perfectly acceptable considering the price I paid. To provide a fuller picture, I've been using this monopod quite a bit over the last 4 years, and have taken it on several trips. It has held up well. The only downside for me is the fact that it uses a 1/4" screw to mount a camera directly, whereas I would prefer a 3/8" screw to mount a ballhead more securely than when using an adapter as I have been doing. The ballhead comes in handy when shooting vertical photos, and when shooting anything not straight in front of you. Rarely needed for video, though.

This is way better than the others that are 3x plus more expensive. This has been durable and perfect.

Excellent bit of kit.
Genuine purchase. I must admit that at £13:49p I didn't expect much. On its arrival the next day I was more than pleasantly surprised. It has its own carry case with a full length zip and strap. It weights next to nothing. Three sections with firm locking clips and an adjustable spiked rubber foot. A standard camera screw fit mount above the foam hand grip. It measures 171cm from the base to the top of the grip. Finished in a satin black. It is very well made and finished. Supports my heavy camera without issue and is so easily removed when you want hand held. Fantastic quality at a fantastic price.
