If you're talking about when you first got it and opened the package, isn't that just typical "newly manufactured product" characteristics ? But fiberglass is not a tough, robust material, it's woven glass...I doubt it will handle a lot of abuse or rough handling. **Q: Would this blanket be able to be used to wrap yourself in to escape a house fire if there was one?** A: It is not designed for that purpose, but I think it would probably protect your body from burns more effectively than clothes. Still, I believe that when there is house fire, you are more likely to die from smoke inhalation than from burns, so I think that having an escape route away from the fire is still your best bet. Also, you may think of cutting a hole in the center to make it like a poncho, but when cut the material frays very quickly. **Q: I am looking to cover & reduce heat from a pre-war apartment radiator that emits too much heat and cannot be turned off. Would this blanket work?** A: I don't see why it wouldn't work for this application. This is a heavy-duty, high quality blanket, and fiberglass is a good heat insulator as glass doesn't conduct heat much. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good protection *by on Reviewed in the United States February 15, 2026* Works very well ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for my pellet smoker *by on Reviewed in the United States December 17, 2024* This is the second one I ordered ,the first one lasted about 4 years . They hold the heat in so I use less pellets.I'm hopeful this one will last just as long as my first oneGreat value and product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great for pellet grill insulation *by on Reviewed in the United States January 3, 2019* I bought this welding blanket to insulate my pellet grill when cooking in cold weather. I fold it over double and place it over my Green Mountain Grills Daniel Boone while I'm cooking. It is a perfect fit and works great! Temps in my Daniel Boone are more even and it uses less pellets. I used to use moving blankets until one caught on fire; I'm sure that won't happen with this. It seems well made and has held up to some pretty rough treatment. Can't comment on its value as a welding blanket, but I highly recommend it for insulating pellet grills and smokers. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sn/products/63065951-abn-fire-blanket-fiberglass-welding-blanket-fireproof-4x6-ft-high](https://www.desertcart.sn/products/63065951-abn-fire-blanket-fiberglass-welding-blanket-fireproof-4x6-ft-high) --- *Product available on Desertcart Senegal* *Store origin: SN* *Last updated: 2026-10-07*
