Carmine's Family-Style Cookbook: More Than 100 Classic Italian Dishes to Make at Home

I love this cookbook. We recently had dinner at the Carmines Restaurant in Las Vegas and fell in love with the food. Obviously we can't frequent the restaurant because it is like 4 hours away but what's better than having it in your house all the time then by cooking it yourself. The recipes are easy to read and follow and are delicious. I highly recommend for any Italian food lover.

You won't find Pumpkin Ravioli with Nutmeg Cream Sauce and Candied Pecans in this recipe book. This is a real Italian recipe book. I love this recipe book. To be honest I am an obsessed cookbook collector, and because I have so many I tend to never focus a lot on one of them. Carmine's is different. I use this book every week. Some of the recipes have become so common in our household that I don't even need the recipe book anymore, ingredients and measurements are now memorized. The recipes are classic and oh so delicious. I love the fact that it also has a bunch of wonderful Italian sandwiches in it. We recently had a family picnic and I made and packed Hot Italian Combo Heroes. They were as popular as the fried chicken and hamburgers. This is the one recipe book that I have in which I can say I've made almost every recipe in the book. The only ones I've skipped are the ones that have ingredients that my family doesn't like. Calamari and lamb, for instance. I couldn't force squid or lamb on them to save my life, though.... I've thought about trying by way of a Carmine's recipe! If you love Classic Italian dishes and you're not looking for fuss, try this recipe book. You'll love it.

This cookbook was in perfect condition and I love the stories throughout pertaining to the history of Carmines family and restaurant. Another selling point for me was the fact that recipes for sauces and other key ingredients for different recipes are included in the cook book. Many tips and advice also. Very informative and interesting.

Having grown up in NY my whole life, been to Carmine’s 100’s of times. It’s true it’s touristy and very loud but they legit make some of the best Italian food in NY. Best Sunday gravy, the rigatoni country style, the Caesar salad and the tiramisu are some of the best ever but I agree I have followed the recipes exactly and I’m a good cook, and something is always off from the restaurant version. I think their are either secret ingredients they specifically leave out or when the recipe is paired back to home style not restaurant portions something is off with the recipes. Still a great cookbook and the recipes come out great etc. but def think something is left out of the recipes that kicks it up at the restaurant vs the home version recipes provided. Just saying :-) Still a great book and a good read or souvenir from the restaurant to have.

For Italian food 10 out of 10 I think all the items are perfect. The cookbook is really amazing. They have appetizers. They have desserts side dishes, so many different things perfect.

Carmine's is my FAVORITE restaurant! I have been to the one in NYC and DC several times each. I have made several items from both books - there are two different ones - and they have been outstanding! I love to cook so I don't mind spending extra time to prepare the recipes. I always try to make sure to use top quality whenever possible, and ALWAYS use fresh produce and herbs. I have never been disappointed. I have asked at the restaurant about the recipes in the books and have been told that those are the recipes that they use. If you go to their website you can pick up a few of their recipes too. Try them out before you buy the book? Hope you like the books as much as I do!

I had my first taste of Carmine's delicious food in Las Vegas this year and it was wonderful! I bought the cookbook mainly for the Caesar Salad Dressing because it's THAT good! The recipe was easy to make and tasted exactly like it did at the restaurant. I can't wait to try other recipes in it.

Fantastic book

I ate at Carmine's on my first ever trip to NYC and was pre-warned that i wouldn't want to leave, and still had no idea what i was in for. i wanted to get the book before i left but was unable, thank goodness for Amazon. the food is simple and delicious, not fussy at all just "here is a whole lot of wicked food, enjoy!" every thing i have tried came out as good as the restaurants - or really close. the portions are no joke, if it says 2-4 people you can count on it. I made 2 of the Rigatonni Country Style at my fire hall and 6 firefighters did not finish all of it- even though they really wanted to. you may need to pre-plan a little as often you need to have one thing made - ex bread crumbs, before making the main dish but with a little creativity you can work around it. i use store bought chicken stock vs theirs simply because of space in my little apartment. if you want something that is great for when you have guests this is it, cannot be beat. it is worth twice the price.

Returning from a trip to Vegas where I had my first taste of Carmines cuisine, I wanted to try and recreate the best lasagne I had ever tasted. I was aprehensive about buying a second hand book but can assure you the condition is perfect.
