Bought this at the height of the first heatwave and I'm so impressed. It chugs along smoothly, delivering a steady flow of cool air, and keeps a large room beautifully cool. Super product

With warm weather approaching I made the jump and purchased this portable air-con unit about three weeks ago. It arrives in a single cardboard box and was quite weighty to lug up the stairs, at around 20kg. It's very easy to set up, there are only a few parts in the box, and the supplied window kit and seal is easy to put together. I especially like that you get a window adaptor for unconventional windows too - we have awkward outward-hinged windows so I was worried that we wouldn't be able to use the seal, but it's been great. The unit comes with touch-sensitive controls on the top and a smartphone app, and I've found that we use the former most often. The app was easy to set up though, and the wi-fi connection means I can control the unit remotely if I'm in another room. The cooling power has blown me away - ours is set up in our bedroom, and a 30-minute blast of cool air before going to bed is enough to lower the temperature in the room by several degrees. I'd say watch out for the noise, because this unit is loud. I don't think we could sleep if it was on all night, even on the lowest fan setting. And although we only use it in short bursts, I haven't seen a big jump in my electricity costs. Top tip - let it sit for about 12 hours before switching it on, because moving it into position will have shifted the refrigerant inside.

As others have mentioned, it is quite noisy, so I wouldn’t recommend it for a bedroom. One annoyance is that the exhaust fan runs constantly, even in fan-only mode—on other units I’ve used, the exhaust fan only operates when actively cooling. The timer is also fairly limited. You can set a start time when the unit is off, or an off time when it’s running, but not both together. It would be much better if the app allowed proper scheduling with daily on/off times. UPDATE: you can add this to the Tuya smart life app and control it from there. That said, it does cool very effectively, and I have no complaints about its performance in that respect.

this must have been the best purchase in my life so far. yes it is a bit loud, but its minor inconvinience at the price of relief from nasty heat.

Works amazingly

Set up of the product is relatively straightforward. A velcro removable seal is created around the window to minimise hot air getting back in and improving efficiency. Once switched on it cools down the room very quickly and effectively, and the app/remote control add to the ease of using. Only reason for dropping a star is, despite reports it is one of the quietest, that it is really quite noisy. We have it on the lowest fan setting (of two), and I really wish there was a third setting with substantially lower fan speed. Can definitely recommend as a way of cooling down a room though.

Maeco Pro Series 9000. The unit cools a small room very quickly which is great. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The unit is pretty heavy for being ‘portable’ with very shallow finger gaps to carry it, I wouldn’t advise anyone regularly moves this up/down stairs. The unit is SO loud I couldn’t believe it, I contacted the seller to double check I hadn’t missed a setting because it’s described as ‘whisper quiet’ which is a complete lie. On the lowest setting it measured at 70 decibels and made it unusable in my home office as there’s no way you could concentrate with it on for long periods of time never mind have online meetings. The vent on the front is supposed to open automatically when you turn it on which it didn’t on ours, not sure if we have a faulty unit, waiting to hear back from the seller. 2 stars purely because the cooling function works well but pretty disappointed as we’ve had a few Maeco products and always loved them, poor show on this one.

Exactly what I was looking for and cooled the room down very quickly. The only downside is the unwieldy vent hose. The best way to use the unit would be to have it venting through a fixed wall outlet having the vent hose as short as possible.
