Excited
Latest Update: 5/22/2024 A week ago, today my quail hatched. Of 14 eggs, 12 Hatched. I am not sure what happened with the other eggs that didn't hatch but it seems they just stopped developing. Out of the 12 quail that hatch, 2 passed. I now have 10, very hyper and eating machines of baby quail. lol. I have learned so much so far, such as you're going to want to grind up your quail food a bit more than it comes to help them be able to eat it. I purchased a coffee grinder from Walmart and just processed it all down. They love it and eat a lot each day. My quail are even growing in their wing feathers now which is really interesting to watch. A couple of them were hatched with curled toes...don't freak out if you see this. It could simply be the size of the shell, or even the humidity in your incubator. But I didn't have to do anything special, and their toes straightened right out in a couple days. Over all, I am very satisfied with this seller and the eggs I got. I feel I had a very successful hatch rate. I will more than likely purchase again in the future once I gain my skills a bit more with what I have. Update: May 11th 2024 Today is day 14. So lock down day. Some of my eggs are wiggling and I have also candled all eggs and all 14 eggs have developed properly so far. No dead eggs and no unfertilized. Today I took out the egg turner that turns the eggs every two hours, and I placed paper towel down on the bottom of the incubator and placed all eggs back in, put the humidity to 65, and now we wait. So far so good. Now let's see how many hatches and how many survive the first 48 hours, which is the most important time for baby quail. Will update more to come. (04/27/2024) My eggs arrived all nicely wrapped. I was very careful when removing all the packing stuff so as not to accidentally break them. I checked all eggs, not a single one was damaged. I have them in an incubator that auto turns them every 2 hours. It also has the ability to keep the humidity in the proper zone and an alarm will sound if it goes to much out of range for temp and humidity. I will update when they hatch but so far so good.

Best Company!!
I wanna start by saying customer service is very quick, pleasant, and helpful. I ran into an issue with shipping and it got solved quickly. I ordered 48 Quail Eggs, I’m very pleased with the packaging, quick shipping. The eggs were packaged amazingly with a nice slip of all the information needed to know. I got a total of 52 as 4 were extra. I broke down my hatch rate in different parts total eggs, order eggs and incubation eggs. My rate was wayyy above 80% for each part. I followed the directions exactly how it said. The egg colors are different patterns which is nice, the size is super cute, and very clean. I ended up hatching 41/45 which puts my hatch rate at a 91%, 41/48 is 85%. So I’m very pleased. They hatched on day 17,18, & 19. I had 3 late bloomers. I am posting this on day 19. I will update on how they turn out. However, I did have a sad day yesterday as I had 2 eggs that had movement but didn’t fully make it out. I ended up hatching twins but they didn’t make it, which made me so sad, but I’m very honored to have experienced that. Overall, I’m very happy to say I’ll be doing business with them again and it’s worth my money! Thank you for inspiring me and being so thoughtful! Update: So I have 38 quail alive at 3 weeks of age. They are blooming and so adorable. My kids love feeding them. I'm still happy with my hatch rate, and the amount I have now. Again, thank you for the amazing hatching experiencing.

Very low hatch rate
The order took approximately one week to arrive. Upon receipt, I allowed the eggs to rest for the recommended 24 hours before incubation. Prior to placing them in the incubator, I candled the eggs and noticed that many appeared to have detached or stuck yolks, as the contents did not move properly when the eggs were gently rotated. Despite these concerns, I incubated all 37 eggs. On Day 7, I candled them again and removed several eggs that showed no signs of development. Additional eggs were difficult to assess due to shell color and thickness, so I left them in the incubator. At lockdown, I performed a final candling and removed more eggs that showed either no development or failed development. After opening the unhatched eggs, it became apparent that the vast majority were either infertile or had never developed beyond the yolk stage. Out of 37 eggs, only two chicks successfully hatched. The remaining eggs showed little to no development, making it clear that fertility was extremely poor. I understand that shipping can impact hatch rates, but this level of loss is far beyond what would be expected. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend purchasing from this company. The hatch rate was disappointing, and the overall outcome made this purchase feel like a significant waste of money. Unfortunately, after reading similar experiences from other customers, I have little confidence that concerns like these will be addressed.

Raising Quail: A Mixed Hatch with Daily Bread Homestead
While the Daily Bread Homestead Coturnix Quail Fertile Hatching Eggs boast a 5-star rating with several positive reviews, my personal experience was quite different. It's important to share both the positive and negative aspects to provide a balanced perspective. What I Liked: Fast Shipping and Secure Packaging: The eggs arrived promptly and securely packaged with foam padding, minimizing the risk of damage during transit. Apparent Health of Breeding Stock: The seller emphasizes their quail are humanely raised and healthy, which is important for successful hatching. Educational Opportunity: Raising quail eggs can be a fun and educational experience, as highlighted by the seller. My Experience: Low Hatch Rate: Unfortunately, only 6 out of 14 eggs hatched (43%), falling short of the expected results. High Chick Mortality: Sadly, 5 out of the 6 hatched chicks died within hours, leaving only one healthy chick. Unclear Cause: It's impossible to pinpoint the exact cause of the low hatch rate and chick mortality without further information or professional assessment. Overall: While Daily Bread Homestead seems to have a positive reputation and takes pride in their quail and shipping practices, my experience with their hatching eggs was disappointing. It's important to note that individual results may vary, and there are many factors that can influence hatching success. Additional Considerations: Incubation Conditions: Proper incubation temperature, humidity, and ventilation are crucial for successful hatching. Ensure your incubator is functioning correctly and calibrated. Candling: Regularly candling eggs throughout incubation allows you to monitor development and remove infertile or dead eggs. Breeder Reputation: While Daily Bread Homestead emphasizes their healthy breeding stock, consider researching other breeders and comparing reviews before making a purchase. Alternative Sources: Depending on your goals and resources, purchasing pre-hatched chicks or mature quail might be a more reliable option. Remember: Raising animals requires responsibility and proper care. Be prepared to invest time, resources, and knowledge before embarking on this endeavor.

Very Low Hatch Rates
I bought this item once directly from the seller in addition to my amazon purchase. The first batch failed to hatch due to several power outages in my area during incubation while I was away from home. I did not have any happen with the second batch. Very poor fertilization and extremely low hatching rates. Out of 28 eggs, I could confirm only 10 were fertilized and had embryo development. In the first batch, only 2 actually developed and 2 had the white mark showing fertilization. Out of the 13 (one was cracked during shipping) in the second batch, 4 actually hatched. And the 4th is very weak, hatched 30 hours late, and might not survive the next few days. This is far below what the hatch rate for quail shipped through mail should be. The seller either does not properly track fertilization, the foam used for shipping is not enough, or mixes in days to week old eggs which explains the weak 4th and multiple embryos that did not develop past a few days. Coturnix Quail can breed all year long with the right conditions, so there is no reason for the rates to be this low. Especially when they claim high-hatch rates, when more than half of the eggs appear to not even be fertilized.

Overall great outcome👍
I ordered a dozen eggs and recieved 14 in the mail. For note, they were scheduled to arrive on a Monday, and they ended up being delivered 5 days early, so I had to scramble to get my incubator running. So if I was to order again I would definitely keep a closer eye on the usps tracking website. Out of the 14 eggs, 2 were non-viable at 7days incubation. 11 hatched on incubation day 16. One had prolapsed intensines and unfortunately didn't make it. The remaining 10 are doing well and look perfect. 71% hatch and survival rate on my order. Update: one additional died before fully mature. Out of the remaining 9, 5 hens, 4 roos. One hen never laid eggs, not sure if it was just sterile or what. One hen is jumbo, a solid 8 grams bigger than her sisters. All are still thriving spring 2025. Excellent layers overall. All White color with black speckles

Great hatch rate for shipped eggs!
As described, 12 eggs plus 2 extras were sent. I was concerned when I picked up the package because the box was crushed a bit despite a very clear “Fragile” sticker on it. But once opened, they were very well packaged and there was no damage to any of the eggs. They send a sticker showing the day they were collected. I let the eggs sit for 24 hours to settle as recommended for shipped eggs. I placed the eggs in the incubator (dropped one in the process so 13 eggs were set) on May 29th. By the end of week one, only 1 egg showed to not be fertile. Put them in lockdown in June 13th (2 eggs stopped developing by lockdown), and had babies popping out June 14th. Out of the 14 eggs sent, 13 placed in the incubator with 10 healthy babies! 77% hatch rate is pretty good for shipped eggs! Already ordered my next batch! Edit for batch 2! We are less than a week from hatch day! ALL 14 EGGS WERE FERTILE! One egg was an early quitter (it happens). The remaining 13 are all developing and show movement! Will update again after hatch day! Edit 2: Out of the 14 eggs, we now have 11 energetic babies! Along with the egg we lost in last edit, we lost another a few days after and ended up with 12 when lockdown arrived. We lost one after pipping the next day (ruptured its yolk sack and left a mess in the incubator). Woke up the day after lockdown with 4 healthy babies. The rest followed through the rest of the day with a 78% hatch rate! Again, another great hatch rate for shipped eggs. My next batch from seller should be here any day! I do want to add that the first batch we received were all Pharaohs. The second batch we got were a variety of colors!

Not recommended
Package arrived with 3 broken eggs, had to pay a duty fee I was unaware of. Costing me 140 dollars all together and lastly none of the eggs hatched. Requested a refund with no response. Waste of money will not buy again.
