This is nothing less but a stunning return. Goldie retains his integrity. There is so much chatter about bringing one's sound to date. Goldie only goes so far as to make music timeless, as his first solo effort suggests, bringing it up to date only so slightly while holding true to his sound. He fearlessly peppers his album with drum and bass tracks... No not a dead genre he reminds us. Thank you for reaching out again Goldie.

Been a fan of Goldie’s since the release of Timeless. Journey Man finds him at the top of his game. It’s a distillation of everything I love about Goldie’s music. Amazing vocals, lush melodies and tremendous beats. But this album! Amazing work by the one and only King of Jungle.

So refreshing to have a new electronic release on CD. Fantastic quality work by Goldie! A smoother side that I really enjoyed. Proof that there is still quality electronic music being produced in this throw away generation of temporary hype.

I love the way Goldie has thought of different tastes with this album! Some banging dnb inI adore you and I think of you and more of a soul and beach club vibe to the rest. I'd of like moe banging dnb but that's just me. If you're unsure just buy it you won't regret it! ❤️🤘

I had this on order before it came out, ready for the release date, it arrived, I excitedly put it on, pressed play, thought to myself, ‘hmmmmmm’ skipped through both discs and disappointedly took it back out the player and chucked something else in and decided ‘that was money wasted’Anyways, I hadn’t listened to it since then so thought i’d give it another go. So tonight in it goes, I don’t think i’ve managed to listen to one tune all the way through, the longest one has been on is whilst i’ve written this. I doubt it will ever get played again and if I hadn’t been listening to goldie tunes for over 25 years and been looking at his Graf for well over 30 when I first got my hands on spray can art it would probably be used as coasters.Just not feeling it at all........

First Goldie album I've ever bought! Sounds quite "reflective" but really rather good!

If I cold only buy one LP this year then I'd be happy with this. Redemption is brilliant. Keep listening, it get's better and better and deserves your undivided attention. It is a long album though, but you can start at different tracks which I enjoy. Hopefully we don't have to wait so long for the next one.

This was the first Goldie album I had heard. It was different that I expected having also just recently heard of Drum & Bass music. I really enjoyed it.

Good, a different feeling to stuff like goldie.co.uk but defo worth a second and third listen. A nice mixture of styles.

Für mich eine der schönsten Scheiben dieses Jahres, die Rückkehr von Goldie, der in den 90ern mit seinen Alben "Timeless" und "Saturnz Return" Klassiker schuf, die das Drum n Bass Genre aus einer Nische hervorhoben (nicht zuletzt auch dank Ihrer epischen symphonischen Größe und illustrer Gästeliste, wie z. b. David Bowie und Noel Gallagher). Nun also nach zig Jahren (und diversen Mixtapes und Sampler) ein neues, eigenes Werk des Künstlers, der in den 90ern mithalf, nach Acid Jazz und Trip Hop ein weitere Genre populär zu machen.Ich selber kenne nur die Deluxe Box, in der 3 CDs entgalten sind und kann nur sagen, dass die erste CD zwar richtig gut ist, CD 2 und 3 jedoch die erste locker in den Schatten stellen.Für mich komisch und nicht nachvollziehbar, dass diese Scheiben bei den deutschen Musikjournalisten bisher eher untergingen (zum Zeitpunkt meiner Rezension noch kaum Resonanz), bzw. eher verhalten bewertet wurden.Hier wird chilliger Drum n Bass, vermischt mit Streichern, loungiges, druckvolles, sowie auch jazziges und souliges Flair geboten. Klar sind die Beats evtl. nicht immer am Zeitgeist ausgerichtet, aber für jeden, der unter den o. g. Musikstilen so etwas wie einen Teil seiner Musiksozialisation erlebt hat, der wird seine Freude an diesem erwachsenen und reifen Werk haben. Goldie erfindet sich nicht neu, wirkt jedoch relaxter, unangestrengter und entspannter. Vielleicht auch nicht mehr ganz so dunkel, was manche enttäuschen mag. Die Musik wirkt eher (besonders CD 2 und 3) manchmal leicht Melancholisch, jedoch nicht negativ. So als würde man an einem schönen Spätsommertag entspannt am Meer sitzen, das Wasser betrachten und seine Gedanken kreisen lassen. Besonders CD 3, die manche der zuvor aufgenommenen Songs als Suite (instrumental Versions) präsentiert, kommt dieser Stimmung ganz nahe. Das mag manchem zu langsam, oder zu langweilig erscheinen, ich find’s toll. Besonders, da er hier nicht mehr astreinen Drum n Bass präsentiert, sondern dies alles mit Jazz, Soul, Klassik und auch Ambient mixt. Einzelne Stücke hervorzuheben ist für mich schwierig. Klasse finde ich natürlich das fast 20 Minuten dauernde Stück „Redemption“, die jazzige Kollaboration mit Pat Metheny (Tu Viens Avec Moi?) wo dessen melancholischer Sommerjazz der Pat Metheny Band der 90er wieder aufgefrischt wird, das leicht soulig, ruhige „This is not a Love Song“, das sanft treibende „The River Mirrored“, das mit jazzigem Piano leicht schwebende „Tomorrow's Not Today“, und die Ballade „Truth“ mit dem (ehemaligen) Jazz Shooting Star Sänger Jose James. Also auch diesmal wieder eine interessante Gästeliste.Als Fazit kann ich nur sagen, schöne relaxte, zum Teil auch leicht melancholische Musik (besonders CD 2 und 3!), die sich als Hintergrundmusik fürs Autofahren, oder bei sich zu Hause ebenso eignet, wie beim konzentrierten zuhören. Zum großen Teil kein Stress Drum n Bass, sondern eher die sanftere Version.
