Must-read if you want to know how or where one's choices can lead him to.
"The Game Of Choices: Khaayega Ya Lagayega?" is a gripping novel by author Anish Kumar. It is set in the period from 2007 to 2011 in Delhi, and brings forward the inside story of cricket betting, exploring the concept of how one's choices can lead to certain complexities in life."Whatever we do is because of our emotions." As the story starts, we see the protagonist Sunny joining the group of five men - Monu, Rinku, Devendra, Chandu, and Vicky - in their cricket betting business. What will Sunny's choice to become a bookie lead him to?Author Anish's writing style has made many terms easy to understand. The explanations of certain terms, including the three kinds of bets and the meaning of "Khaayega ya Lagayega?", have been done well with the help of examples. I found the novel to be engaging, as there are several plots with unexpected twists.I had heard about cricket betting and match-fixing, but this book gave me deeper insights into the betting world. The character of Sunny has been portrayed well, and Sunny and Sanjana's love story has been depicted effectively, showcasing another side of Sunny's character and his true love for her.As you read, you'll realize that author Anish has done extensive research and has presented actual facts and happenings behind the game of cricket and cricket betting. The author has also created an animated web series based on the book and a music album. The theme songs in the album can be heard before reading certain chapters, which will hit you differently. If you are a cricket lover, "The Game Of Choices" will bring back many memories of that time period. The novel also focuses on an important message: we are ultimately the product of our choices.
