Does not cook your batteries
Got this 5/5 Guest Charger to permanently install on my Malibu boat with dual starting lead acid batteries. I am loyal to Noco Chargers for all my OHV toys but after reading a ton of reviews saying their Noco marine charger destroyed their marine batteries by over charging and making the acid boil out, I started looking elsewhere. I actually picked the Guest 5/5 charger because of it's color (matched my boat) and it also had great reviews. I've owned it two months now and keep it plugged into the shore power 100% of the time when my boat is not in use. So far, so good! No boiling or otherwise damaged batteries. It switches to maintain mode once the batteries are charged, as indicated by small LED lights on the front that show what it's doing to each battery bank. No need to unplug it during storage. I always turn my boat's battery selector to the "off" position before plugging in the charger. The charger leads attach directly to each battery. You have to purchase the correct "bank number" charger that corresponds to how many individual batteries you want to charge on your boat, RV, etc.For the install, I mounted it near the batteries in the same large compartment. Some people say not to mount in in the area where your batteries are but I open the compartment door so air can circulate. I read that the unit could potentially get warm when charging batteries so I bought a piece of 1/8" aluminum from Home Depot and some 3/8" spacers to create a backing plate against the carpet and spacers to allow airflow behind the Guest charger. Simple install, great investment, and no more worries about my batteries going dead while the boat is in storage.

Seems like a well built charger
So far it works great. It charges and maintains my batteries well. I've only had it for a short time so I can't speak to the longevity of the charger but I'm hoping it lasts longer than the 2 years another brand lasted

Best boat battery charger I've used
I have a 30 ft. twin-merc Concept boat that is on a boat lift all the time when not running. The charger is installed under the back seat in front of the engines and connected to shore power when the boat is on the lift. I have not had a moment of trouble with this charger and I highly recommend the brand as it holds up to saltwater and rain as it is installed in a sheltered location of the boat. Money well spent for sure.

So far so good but check the cable length for your boat
Easy install and so far, so good. The cables are only 6 feet long so make sure you check what you need. I had to purchase two 15 foot extension cables which worked great but cost me almost as much as the charger. They included information to contact ProMariner if you needed cable extensions but I gave up after making 10 calls, leaving several messages and e-mailing them. Never even received a response.. Would have been a 5 star review if I received any kind of customer service.
