Philips SHS390/00 Neckband Headphones

Got these headphones to replace my old Philips foldaway ones which gave me a great 5/6 years of service. I use them mainly when out on my bike, hence the reason I prefer the neck band style, and they get soaked and filthy on a regular basis so a fairly rough life for headphones I guess. The wire seems a bit flimsy compared my previous set, but they have a decent sound quality for a budget price.

I love this reasonably priced product! I use it when I'm working out at the gym. The sound reproduction is very good with the bass being reasonable. I use it mainly when doing cardio. Because they are not adjustable, I do find some movement/sliding of the band behind my neck which can put the ear pieces out of position, but this doesn't happen often. The only problems I had were with DHL. They tried to deliver to my home address, but I was out. I contacted them by phone and was given an e-mail address which I could write to to re-arrange delivery to my work address. This went ignored and they tried to redeliver to my home address. I called and e-mailed again, but still received no response. I gave it a few more days and called them up, at which point they told me that they had deliverd successfully. I asked why they didn't deliver to the new address as instructed, and was told that that particular depot covered my home area only. I asked why my e-mails had not received any responses and was told they didn't know. Anyway, I knocked on a few doors and found that one of my neighbours had signed for it, and they handed it over to me.

A simple headphone. It's bit small and the backneck band is not very flexible and probably cause I've a bigger head/ unusual head shape at times I feel it to be bit tight and can feel it rubbing against my hair. I was looking for a headphone which I wish is circlar and cover up most of my ear so I can look cool (hahaha yes I know I'm weird) but it doesn't really cover up the upper part of the ear and the shape of the headphone is fairly oval as well. Despite the slight incoherent rambling, a nice simple headphone and nothing more really.

Well, a pretty good deal for the price. Audio snobs will probably list its lack of oomph on whackyzed waveband, and the fact that it doesn't have a double splonking whatnot to tweak, but I say: get a life. They're cheap, and if they don't sit quite right on your lug holes because you're used to having little plastic nubs shoved down them to make them stay put, then again I say: get a life. Get used to it. They're dead comfy, and they don't fall off. Of course, you could always fork out for something marked up to a silly price and kid yourself it's top kit, but if you do, the bloke smirking at you will be me. Well chuffed with this. Frothy.

This product has good sound quality. However the problem i have is that the ear pieces are too big and even though they hook over my ears, the ear pieces end up half on my face. I wouldn't buy them again. I much prefer my previous Sony headphones.

I purchased these headphones as a simple pair of headphones to listen to music/games/videos without bothering anyone at home while the rest of the family are sleeping. When I plugged them in I noticed the sound quality is better than my old speakers (though they still function perfectly) and the bass is extremely powerful! They are quite loud too if the volume is turned up. I give them 5/5 for sound and quality! They might not be the most comfortable headphones, in fact after a couple of hours they feel uncomfortable, but if you change their position slightly you should be ok for some time. 4/5 Value for money 5/5 undoubtedly as they are extremely cheap and have reasonably high quality!

Basically I ordered a pair, found that upon opening the package the connection was faulty. Sent them back received another pair and within about two months the contact in the thin straggly cable deteriorated until they simply no longer worked. They are now in the bin and I am looking for new headphones. They used to make these years ago and they were good well made headphones. Not anymore, they will probably only last a few months if you are lucky before the wired break and you get no sound whatsoever.... And they call this progress? Explains why they're cheap at the moment though.

nachdem mein allseits geliebter sennheiser bügelhörer den geist auf tragische weise aushauchte, stiess ich bei amazon auf den philips 390 und die bereits vorhandenen kundenrezensionen brachten mich zu dem entschluss, dieses billige ding mal auszuprobieren. was kann man schon für zehn euro verlangen, aber mal sehen. frisch ausgepackt konnte der kleine durch sein kompaktes, schlankes design überzeugen. also mal ran am ipod und aufgedreht. ersteinmal farin urlaub mit "zu heiss" vom neuen album und lärm. was dieser kleine dann an akkustischem feuerwerk ablieferte, war schlicht und ergreifend unverschämt. unverschämt weil man für zehn euro (!!!) einen hörer bekommt, der einem glatt den gehörgang wegbügelt.. satte bässe wummern und glasklare höhen ohne kratzen, sowie einwandfreie mitten. ein schalldruck jenseits von gut und böse und wohl einzigartig in dieser klasse. spielend nimmt es der kleine mit großen konkurrenten auf, die schon an die 100 euro grenze schnuppern. als nächstes "elvis vs spankox". auch hier satte bässe, klare höhen, nicht zu sehr baßlastig, überraschend ausgewogen. irgendwie muss der doch mal an seine grenzen stoßen, aber selbst klassik bringt der kleine perfekt in den gehörgang.der viermal so teure sennheiser war vergessen. lediglich einen vorteil konnte ich vom sennheiser ausmachen. er zeigt etwas feinere konturen. das gilt es aber hier zu vernachlässigen. dieses gerät ist, zumindest an meinem ipod, nicht so schnell zu schlagen. absolute kaufempfehlung! und an die jungs und mädels von philips: ihr müsst euch wirklich im preis verhauen haben! man sieht, es muss nicht immer teuer sein: kleiner mann, ganz groß. respekt.

Anfangs musste ich mich wegen der ungewöhnlichen Form erst an die Kopfhörer und die Art sie zu tragen gewöhnen. Es besteht keine Möglichkeit, den Kopfbügel zu verstellen und das störte mich zunächst. Jedoch sind diese Anfangsschwierigkeiten nach wenigen Trageversuchen völlig verschwunden. Der Kopfhörer sitzt hervorragend, ein Verstellen wird gar nicht gebraucht und er ist sehr leicht und stört überhaupt nicht. Die Ohrschalen sind sehr weich und angenehm. Man kann sich gut mit dem Kopfhörer bewegen und somit eignet er sich hervorragend für die Arbeit am Masterkeyboard, ohne dass die Nachbarn sich gestört fühlen. Der Klang - das wohl wichtigste Kriterium - ist einwandfrei und wirklich glasklar. Ich bin also nach einer kurzen Gewöhnungsphase absolut zufrieden.

Der Sound mag ja noch OK sein. Aber für mein Gefühl (selbst bei meinem schmalen Kopf) sassen die Hörmuscheln zu eng am Kopf und drückten. Außerdem sind sie relativ klein. Und die Bügel, die ja hinter den Ohren aufliegen sind aus hartem Kunststoff. Das ist eben auch mit der Zeit unangenehm. Es gibt von Philips nur wenige Euro teurere Kopfhörer, die etwas größere Ohrmuscheln haben und bei denen der Bereich des Bügels der hinter dem Ohr aufliegt, mit sehr angenehm zu tragendem, weichem Kunststoff ummantelt ist. Bei Amazon habe ich diesen Kopfhörer aber jetzt nicht finden können.

Nach fast 5 Jahren hat sich der Schaumstoff aufgelöst und der Kopfhörer wandert in die Mülltonne. Ich war mit dem Kopfhörer sehr zufrieden und er hat viele Stunden auf dem Laufband mitgemacht und mich gut unterhalten. Er war in fast jedem Urlaub mit und hat 1000e Flugmeilen hinter sich gebracht. Der Klang ist sehr gut, der Tragekomfort auch -> mehr kann man nicht von einem Kopfhörer verlangen. und wenn er dann auch noch 5 Jahre hält, dann kann man erst recht nicht meckern

Also die Kopfhörer an sich sind ganz gut, nur bei mir stehen sie unten etwas ab. 1. Sieht das nicht so gut aus und 2. hat man dann von dem schönen Bass nicht mehr all zu viel. Kann aber auch sein dass mein kopf bzw meine ohren etwas klein sind...
