A Nearly Perfect Knife
While I wish this knife could be opened one handed, and by comparison to other similar sized knives that do, this seems to be a design flaw, this is a nice knife. There is a small nodule on the liner lock bar that seems to fit into a divot on the blade, which serves as a sort of lock to keep the blade in place when closed. Perhaps if this nodule were eliminated the knife could flip open more freely. As it is, the thumb stud could be a bit smoother and rounder. It would make the process of opening the knife more satisfying.Given the knife’s inability to be opened one handed, the price seems about $15 higher than it ought to be.My final criticism is that the art on the blade is a bit redundant. The anvil logo could be smaller and placed on the tang instead of the blade face. The Anvil Bladesmiths Pivot label on the opposite side of the blade feels unnecessary. That being said, I find the overall shape to be and proportions to be as close to perfect as I’ve ever seen. It strikes me as a very attractive design, perhaps the kind of knife James Bond would carry. I tend to prefer a slightly smaller knife, and this knife seems to be just the right size.I especially appreciate the spearpoint blade. So many ‘tactical’ knives have tanto, warncliffe, or serrated style blades which in my opinion ruin them altogether. This knife is beautiful in it’s minimalism, and wholesome in it’s functionality. Non-threatening, yet industrially rugged.I would say this knife is for the person who is comfortably confident in themselves and their abilities to manage any situation. Someone with a ‘less is more’ mentality that may also lean toward taking notes in a paper notebook over a tablet or surface pro type device. Someone who is witty but doesn’t tell jokes. In short, a solid sort of person, in the turn of the century meaning of the word.
