LIFETIME 60012 Extra Large Deck Box, 130 Gallon, Desert Sand/Brown

Used as a dock box next to my boat to store stuff not needed on a given trip. Firstly assembly is really nearly as bad as others have indicated, but the instructions are accurate, there are not many steps, and assembly does eventually happen. The difficulty is in installing the screws into the metal hinges which are large screws that self tap into the metal. You will need a decent wrench to do this or be very skilled and strong if you do not. Seek help if you are not handy with tools. If you are you can skip a trip to the gym. When assembled the box is good looking with a nice finish. The box is pretty big and not heavy. I was a bit concerned it would move if not secured so installed 20lb of dive weights, plus added a lot of stuff to the box. My boat has little onboard storage so I store everything in the box I am not using for the trip. Caution: You must use a lock or something similar or the lid will blow open in strong winds. I wondered why my box kept being moved out of place by 6 inches or so. The answer I discovered was the font of my boat was actually hitting the box and pushing it on the dock as the tide changed, glad I didn't screw it down lol. No damage to the box even when hit by a boat, a solid box, a fiberglass box would probably have cracked. I think this will last me quite a few years.

Fantastic storage box for the deck. This is my 2nd one from Lifetime and I couldn't be happier. I got the big one about a year ago and was blown away by the build quality and size and it still looks brand new. I decided to replace my other cheap, low quality top level deck box with the smaller Lifetime box and again, the quality is just incredible. Built like a tank and looks great. Highly recommend any products from this company. You won't be disappointed!!

First off let me comment on the quality of the product. The box itself is excellent. It is well constructed, sturdy and has important features like air pistons on the lid to prevent it from slamming shut on your (or little one's)fingers. The internal hardware securing the box makes the box much more secure than it would be otherwise. That's not to say that it couldn't be broken into. It is after all just made of PVC. However, it's going to take more than just a kick to make it fall apart. That being said. Putting together the box was a real pain. The assembly of the main box was easy. The front, back and sides snap into place into the floor. They are then secured with metal L shaped brackets to the box walls. The screws are self tapping Phillips head so not too bad to install but a second person holding the bracket in place for the first screw helps a lot. The pain comes with attaching the hinges to the lid and the box. For some unknown reason they decided to use bolts that need to be secured with a socket wrench. I guess it's to allow the hinge to fit into a tighter space. Attaching to the lid is not that bad, but attaching to the side is a real pain. The bolt that feeds in from the side does not have enough room to turn so it needs to be slid into place through the hole on the side and the hinge, then held in place with a wrench while the nut on the other side is tightened with a socket wrench. The REAL pain comes in securing the piece of metal (a lid support) to the front of the lid. This literally took me almost an hour as it was next to impossible to line up the metal bar (despite the notch to "position it) with the "guide holes" on the lid. The angle you have to work at is very awkward and you are again driving the screw in using a socket wrench. So overall a good box, but a bit on the expensive side. Just be prepared to be frustrated with parts of the assembly.

Haven't been this quick to write a review needless to say I really like this product right off the bat. I got this a couple of days ago and put it together yesterday. Being a new pool owner we needed something to put some of the pool items away from the elements. This seemed to me a good choice as far as size and price. It is plastic which I'm not really a fan of the look but for the most part we just needed it to be functional. I bought a cover to go over it which keeps it water proof and it actually doesn't look that bad. I have put together many, MANY things, from exercise equipment to shelves to desk etc over the years. Obviously this is a box not much else to say it should be easy to put together. With the way they design these things and the hardware that you get to hold it all together it seems that it wouldn't be very durable. All the bolts screw into the plastic but all the joints and lid seemed to match up and seem solid. As long as you don't over-tighten the bolts all is good. Having all the sockets and box wrenches helped, a decent tool box like the Stanley 145 piece set from Walmart that I bought a while back was really handy I used it more here that I have since I bought it. All the panels are light weight and easy to move around it says that you need a rubber mallet I didn't have to use it all the piece easily fit together with a little force. The hinges have a very simple air cylinder that seems to work well, I would say that would be something to see how long it last but it does seem solid and the hinge as a whole works well. Overall it very easy to put together with the proper tools and seems like it will last. When you put it together as the instructions say you put the walls together first and then work on the lid and hinges. If you put the lid on the box walls it will get it off the ground to make it easier to work on, just a tip. Also when putting on the hinges the lid will not stay up if you don't have someone to help hold it up you could use a wall to prop it up. Now the size. This was the largest box I could find for the cheapest amount of money. We don't have a lot stored in the box. In all we have two fold up gravity chairs, three pool noodles, goggles, snorkels, diving rings and two pool floating chairs that are full of air but can fold up enough to shove in there. The goggles and small stuff doesn't take up that much space so there is room to put a few more small stuff. The chairs have to be leaning to the side to put the lid down but the noodles go in the little void they make. It's pretty easy to get what you need in there, it's not a lot but enough to keep things protected and out of the sun and rain. My pool and that side of my house faces south so it's in the sun all day. Any chair or items lying around with no protection will get baked. We have a large pad of concrete around the pool coming up to the house so there was plenty of room to set the box next to the house with no issues being in the way. If you have a deck around your pool or are placing this inside a garage it's about the size of a large freezer chest so it will take up some room. Along with buying this is I bought the cover to go over the top of it to make it water proof. I'm sure that this box would be water resistant but not to sure if it would keep out a heavy rain. The cover was $30 which in total still makes it cheaper than the rubbermaid box that is the same size. The cover is a perfect fit and with drawstrings on both sides and elastic at the bottom so it will stay on. In all I would highly recommend this box for storage and would also recommend getting the cover if you need it to be water proof. This could also be used as a table or a bar like area to put your spread of food. Overall this was a great purchase for our needs at a great price.

Easy to assemble- once I adjusted for inadequate tools. [ Note: make sure you have Drill adapted Sockets in all sizes, especially for driving screws between stability bar & lid. I drilled pilot holes after attempting to use socket wrench by hand]. I also struggled with the bolts that connected the lid hinges to the body. Otherwise the instructions coupled with video instructions made assembly of breeze. I read many reviews and took the advice others gave went from their experience. Deck box holds a lot and I'm looking forward to having my bird seed and cat litter protected from summer monsoons. Also of note, this is a lockable box but the holes given only accommodate a substandard padlock. I plan on drilling a larger hole so I can employ a robust padlock since this deck box is on my front porch for the world to see.

Easy assembly can be done with one person. Would help to have nut driver, but ratchet worked just fine. I recommend to seal all side and bottom seams to prevent moisture and insects. Top lid leaves very little room for foam tape, but a thin 1/2” strip would work fine. (Optional) Overall it is very sturdy and lid is rigid. Good deal, good product

I want to thank Amazon for being honest about these deck boxes. I had to send other companys boxes back twice before i finally got the true heavy duty ones i needed. I have 6 more to buy and i'm ordering from Amazon and the exact same ones. They are strong "very strong"..large and attractive to look at...great price and now that everyone knows leave 6 for me...l.o.l

Arcón de calidad, la instalación no es "click - clack"... pero tampoco es difícil su montaje. Requiere de algunas herramientas básicas... pero biene todo muy bién detallado y explicado. Incluso hay vídeos en Youtube de como se montan. Una vez montado es robusto y se ve de muy buena calidad.

Coffre de très bonne qualité, parois épaisse, seul bémol pas étanche, mais un joint en silicone a l'intérieur et c'est top.

Perfect but was missing some screws, two

Ich brauchte eine wetterfeste Box für meine Sandfilterpumpe, die Größe und Doppelwandigkeit kamen mir ideal vor - also bestellt. Die Box kam in wenigen Einzelteilen mit einer sehr ausführlichen und bebilderten Anleitung an. Der Steckmechanismus ist gut durchdacht, man braucht für den Zusammenbau aber schon einiges an Werkzeug (Ratsche mit verschiedenen Nüssen, Schraubenzieher, Hammer (nur für 1 Vorgang). Die vier Wände mit Boden waren in 5 min zusammengesteckt, aber der Schließmechanismus mit Gasfeder erforderte einige Steck/Schraubarbeiten. Es hat sich gelohnt: Die Box macht einen superstabilen Eindruck, der Deckel schließt passgenau und satt, ist nur mit etwas Kraftaufwand zu öffnen (Er schnappt praktisch ein). Ich musste dann wegen der Fremdnutzung (Pumpe, Schläuche) leider an 2 Stellen Löcher schneiden und das tat mir wirklich leid um die schöne Box. Interessant beim Zerschneiden: Die Wände sind wirklich doppelt und mit "Verstrebungen" stabilisiert. Ich kann die Box wärmstens empfehlen und habe mir noch eine zweite für die eigentliche Nutzung bestellt.
