gate Wheel Silver Pack of 2

This gate wheel is made of heavy duty material and seems to be very sturdy. I enjoy that the price isn't outrageous as well. I salvaged an old gate to add to my fence outside and wanted ti save as much as possible on the project. This wheel should last, will update in a couple months to see how bad it rusts.

Wow, this gate wheel is built much more solidly than I expected. And it's very easy to install. I had it on my gate and working in less than five minutes. The teeth are very effective at gripping the gate tubing and the U-bolt assembly is very strong.I wanted this gate wheel to support the weight of my gate when in the fully open position. And it serves that purpose very well!Unfortunately, the nature of a gate wheel is it works best when moving along a flat, level surface, such as on concrete. While the gate wheel is fantastic at serving the intended function, it doesn't work as well when bumping up and down across car wheel ruts. I have work to put in leveling the gate wheel path to get the best results.It will be very interesting to see how the gate wheel holds up to Florida's summer heat and hurricane rains.

This gate wheel is quite heavy duty and thick strong steel construction. It is painted rather than galvanized or stainless steel so it won't last as long as ones with those construction types.The wheel is solid rubber and quite heavy as well. I'm sure it can take a lot of use.The gate frame clamp is a large u-bolt of 7/16" diameter. Also very heavy and strong.I don't know how well the clamp will actually hold the wheel in position against the gate opening and closing. There is no positive attachment to the gate only a friction clamp with the u-bolt and the teeth on the bracket. I think you will have to really tighten the bolts very tight to keep the wheel from rotating over time if the ground is rough or bumpy.Overall a good part with a decent price. I plan to use mine on a portable chicken coop so that is a bit of a non-standard application for these.

Craziest thing ever, adding this wheel makes the gate stick more often than without it. It literally cannot roll over any sort of pebble or inconsistent ground and acts like a hard brake. But the wheel spins freely when it's not touching the ground. I've tried adjusting it to all sorts of positions hoping one would work but so far haven't found any that work, as soon as the wheel touches ground the gate stops hard
