What else can I say. It works, got the same reading as my other counter on my uranium glass set, it clicks for particles but it can be turned off in settings. It seems durable and user friendly. Not bad for its price.

Basic and nice

I bought this one, because it got good reviews. However, I'm a little disappointed. It's slow to respond, and seems not able to detect beta radiation very well. But, it does make the clicking noise. I opened it up and confirmed it had the J321 GM tube. I figured that it would work much better with the better rad-pro firmware. However, installing the new firmware is difficult and requires a special USB adaptor.

Our cat was irradiated for thyroid disease. I bought this device to check the litter box and other items around the house as her radiation levels diminished. It's easy to use and provides plenty of information and modes for detecting radiation levels. Well worth the investment.

The item I received came straight out of the package with fingerprints on the screen, so I think it may have already been returned by a previous buyer. I purchased it for when I went out antique hunting, but the unit had no sensitivity to uranium glass. I placed the item in the middle of my uranium glass collection and the CPM readout spiked at 25 over a 15-minute period (leaning against one piece and surrounded by 6 others). My static background CPM was18- 20 in my other rooms. Maybe I just received a defective unit, but I'm not repurchasing to try again.
