Q: When there is no water flow does the pump shut off automatically?

I bought one for continuous flow, but yes, the red attachment is a flow-actuated switch.. (I had to jumper the switch connector, since I removed the switch.) Also, you need to know.. this kind of switching, to start & stop a motor.. will be MUCH more reliable, if the switch is wired to a relay, with at least 5 times the current rating of the motor being "jolted" into motion, at the whim of the flow-switch. In other words, the switch will be more reliable, the motor will be more reliable, and you can add a remote switch, to disable the circuit, when the motor is not in use. Speaking of safety.. ALLways add a power-control fuse.. in this case a 2 or 3 amp fuse will have to be used for the big starting-current the motor will draw. Adding a small 10 amp rated relay should require a 1/4 amp fuse for the control circuit. This combination allows for long wires to the on-off switch safely. For the Ultimate in safety.. add a Ground-Fault-Circuit-Interrupter it the power source.. It's required by the National Electrical Code, and the Right thing to do.

It would work if you prime first mine was not self priming diaphragm r.v pump would work better for your aplication
