Ian Fleming's literary debut of British Secret Service agent 007 is stylishly adapted to the sequential art medium by Van Jensen and Denis Calero in the official James Bond: Casino Royal graphic novel. Sent to a French casino in Royale-les-Eaux, Bond aims to eliminate the threat of the deadly Le Chiffre by bankrupting the ruthless SMERSH operative at the baccarat table. However, when the luck of the draw favors his enemy, 007 becomes the target of assassins and torturers in a high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse. Review: 00 - Great item Review: Original novel plus.... - A graphic novel that takes and includes the original Fleming novel and enhances it visually to great effect. The muted colour helps to somehow keep the story-telling linked to the period. I found it very satisfying to read and watch a story I have known and re read many times over the years. I am a Fleming fan and appreciate his writing style so this version has become a big bonus for me. I intend to buy the next one...Live and let Die.

Comic book.
No where that I can see does it tell you that this is a comic book. Not the story written by Ian Fleming.

Gritty and engrossing
I was a bit skeptical about this adaptation, but I must say it was quite engrossing and I felt like I was being drawn in to the same sort of atmosphere as in the novels. If you're looking for something that matches the films, then it's probably not for you, but if you're looking for something that stays true in spirit to the original Ian Fleming novels, then this might be right up your street.

A perfect adaption of Casino Royale...and more
I can't say enough about this book; it is a perfect adaption of Casino Royale...and more. There is a lot of narration mixed with the panel dialog; as a result it takes a while to read, so you really get your moneys worth. The story itself moves fast and the book is gripping throughout so you wont want to put it down. Lots of effort was included to flesh out the cast, from Bond and Vesper to the players around the table, time is taken to explore each character. The art is also great, it creates a dark and moody atmosphere that goes hand-in-hand with the narration. If you have seen the movie there is a lot to enjoy here that will add to your appreciation of the Casino Royale story. Really looking forward to the next Bond adaptation "Live and Let Die".

Fantastic Graphic Novel of the First James Bond Story
I'm not sure what the other reviewers are reviewing. From the context, it looks like they are reviewing some abridged version of the prose novel. This item is the new comics version--the graphic novel of Ian Fleming's classic story. I've read this story several times. I've read the book. I read the newspaper comic strip version. And, I listened to the Audible recording to the book. All of these versions are done well, but I've got to say that this graphic novel is fantastic. You can tell that the writer loved the source material. If you are interested in an exceptional Bond graphic novel, then you can't go wrong with this one. Five Stars.
