Not uncommon for jewelry makers to do this, Overall it keeps their overhead down without having to lower the quality of the actual jewelry itself, so not mad at it. Fortunate the clasps are very easy to replace with sterling, and very cheap if you want to take them to a jeweler. So I still love the bracelets I wear 4 out of 6 of them everyday still, With the exception of changing out the class for real silver I've had no problem with them and I still love them.
