MyoTape - 30 Nights - Reduces snoring, Promotes Nasal Breathing, Improves Sleep.

As it was my 1st time using such a breathing aid I decided to start with Myotape rather than a cheaper brand. Some of the reviews were mixed, referring to blue ones arriving and them being hard to remove. The ordering placing was a little confusing and I wasn't sure which colour or size to expect! I recieved the flesh coloured ones and in a size that works for me and I have found it easy to use and remove without leaving any sticky around my mouth. It certainly helps me breathe through my nose while I sleep and after about 10 days of using Myotape I think the quality of my sleedpis improving. Next time tho I might be tempted to give one of the cheaper brands a try, purely because of the cost differential!

These have gone up from about 26p each to 50p each (looking back at previous purchases). But also: - they used to be supplied on a sheet of 6, now they are individual pieces and more difficult to remove from the backing. - the glue seems stronger - it sticks more to my skin which, I assume, will cause more tearing of the skin when i remove it in the morning. It leaves a residue of glue around my mouth. However, they do work to keep my mouth closed when i sleep which is what I wanted.

I have used these for years but and the original version was excellent and did a good job. The new improved version is abysmal. Doesn't keep my mouth closed and the glue is way too strong. Difficult & painful to remove and leaves glue residue on my face. Have to scrub my face & still residue is left. Customer service is very poor.

It may seem a bit frightening to tape your mouth at night but firstly, I must say that I have had no issues with not being able to open my mouth when I want to, when awake. When asleep the tape does the job of stopping me from mouth breathing. I know this because my tongue doesn't feel like a rough piece of old carpet when I wake up! I tried using micropore( the papery one) but the beauty of this product is that there is little or no tape on your lips, which don't take kindly to having ordinary tape stuck to them overnight. It doesn't stop me snoring, which I don't believe it claims to do. My snoring is not to do with whether my mouth is open or not. What it did do I think, was reduce my snoring a little. I use snore lab to record my snoring and there has been some reduction. If reducing snoring is what you are after then there are other things designed for that and snore lab can help you monitor how effective they are. I highly recommend an orthodontic retainer ( fitted by a dentist, my home made mould wasn't a brilliant fit). Works for me but may not help everyone, depends on cause of snore.

This is an excellent product. The quality of my sleep has improved as a result of using these and I wake up feeling more refreshed. They are easy to put on and take off. One thing I particularly like about them is that I can still open my mouth a bit - the tape doesn't actually come into contact with your lips. The only negative is the adhesive. Some packs I've received are quite sticky and leave a residue that requires something like Vaseline or make up remover, soap and water are not enough. If the manufacturer could get the adhesive right, this would be a 5 star product. However, saying that - I wouldn't be without these as I sleep so much better.

I didn't find these easy at first. Much better than straight up taping of the mouth. And it was challenging at first. After persisting on using these over time every once in a while, I can see these are well worth the money. After all - gettig eough oxygen overnight is very important. And that didn't make sense till recently. Placing a tape over the mouth instead of around the mouth can be damaging to a sense of safety. This is worth trying out for longer, if you fid other tapes too much.

It would seam the makers of this product have struck a deal with “‘no nails” whilst it does do what’s intended it has become way too sticky. I hope they reconsider and go back to the original formula

I got this to stop me waking up thirsty and to get a better quality sleep in the night after attending a webinar by Patrick McKeown - who researched and designed this product. Nasal breathing is important for overall good health it turns out. I found out that mouth breathing during the night is not only linked to dry mouth but also to the increased need to pee in the night. Patrick explained the science behind it as well as the link between nasal breathing and intelligence. For me it has been effective. I use it as and when I need a better sleep and it works without fail.

The first thing that actually has stopped my partner snoring!

UPDATE: kindly note that they do make a version specifically designed for beards. My bearded friend has used both and much prefers the design for beards (the tape is solid black so you won’t mix them up if you happen to have both). Recommended by my myofunctional therapist since it actually activates your muscles instead of just having the tape hold your lips together. I used to use 3m surgical tape (a small, vertical strip as adviced in Breath by James Nestor) to allow for airflow on the sides, but it felt restrictive and there’s something about having your mouth taped shut that’s disconcerting when you’re trying to fall asleep. I love that you can mouth breath if you absolutely need to with this tape, and it’s really nice to be able to still talk or take a sip of water or cough or sneeze. It’s also less restrictive/confusing/alarming to wake up with this tape (as opposed to having my mouth taped completely shut) if I happen to wake up in the night. When this tape works well it’s practically perfect, and when it doesn’t work well it’s because I had lotion or chapstick preventing it from sticking. It helps to cleanse the area first, press on firmly, and then apply chapstick or lotion after it’s stuck on properly. I haven’t had any breakouts or irritation and find the adhesive to be just right— so long as my skin is lotion-free before applying! I recently had my tongue tie released and between that procedure, myofuntional therapy, and mouth tape, I’m breathing easy for the first time in my life. I’m working with an airway dentist to expand my airway for a permanent solution (going to take a while), but in the mean time I’m grateful for this tape! She recommended a nasal strip, Xclear xylitol spray, and mouth taping every night. It’s been a total game changer for me and my family members who have been willing to try.

This product didn’t work for me. My husband snores just as loudly with it on. It didn’t irritate his skin, but it wasn’t worth the price. The quality is good if it had worked.
