The feature of this skin cleanser is Salicylic Acid. What is great about it is it works on acne prone skin without drying out the skin. It's a mild exfoliant, and because you are lowering the pH, you are slowing the bacteria population! The secret to get your money's worth is to leave it on for 5-10 minutes, since it has active ingredients. Is it drying? I'm 63, I leave it on 10 minutes, wash it off, my skin is not tight or dry. It's gentle enough to use frequently. I know people who wash their underarms with this before they go to the gym. Sweat and don't be stinky. That is the premise of all those new deodorants with glycolic acid, mandelic acid, lactic acid, or salicylic acid. Salicylic acid has has anti-inflammatory properties. It's aspirin's cousin. If you have an allergy to aspirin, this product is probably not for you. Your skin is slightly acidic. Water has an average pH of 7 which is neutral. Letting a product with active ingredients sit a little on your skin before washing it off helps you get your money's worth.

My entire family uses this face cleanser. Its a great, fragrant free wash that doesn't agitate my super sensitive skin. Ive been using it for a couple years and it has really helped keep my breakouts under control. Its also a great price for the size of bottle you get. Especially when you compare it to other companies. Definitely a reoccurring order in my house.

I've used 2% SA before and it burned my skin something awful. My skin is so sensitive from decades of sun damage and skin trauma. It is extremely sensitive. Luckily the other major brand was unavailable so I purchased the Cetaphil 8oz then realized the 16oz is a better deal. Tried to cancel but too late so I ordered the 16oz anyway because it said it would arrive next day also and I could refuse or return the 8oz. Well a few hours after purchasing the 16oz the delivery time changed to 2 days and I needed it next day so when the 8oz arrived early in the morning the next day I took the hand off from delivery because that's how much I need that extra kick from the SA before hyaluronic acid and then moisturizing right after use. No fragrance at all but that doesn't mean it has no smell to it. These are chemicals in a plastic container but it's hardly noticeable. This one did not burn or irritate my face whatsoever like the 2% but you can tell whatever the amount it's very effective. It's cost less then other like products and one drop from a perfectly functional pump bottle on wet hands foams right up. A little does go a long way. I also applied a little more than a drop to a wet face, head and neck. Immediately helped clean off any impurities from skin and it washes right off. I use it before shower just makes things so much easier. I will also keep the 16oz because I know it works great and it doesn't irritate. I took off 1 star because I paid like over 50% more for the 8oz and couldn't cancel because it was "in transit" and shipping date changed for the 16oz. Cetaphil has become my goto brand. The pump bottles work great compared to the squeeze because it's so much easier to control the amount you dispense. When it gets low I just mix in a little bottled water to get it all out.
