1 year review
This is an update to an earlier 4 star review of this product. As you can see I've changed it to 5 stars and I'll explain why. I've now had my BGV9s for over a year and they are virtually as new. I've been using them twice a week during this time, both for technical drills and bagwork. I'm by now means a big lad, but I'm of average height and build with a intermediate level of skill so I would say I can whack a bit. There's no reason to believe they won't last me another year by the look of them. Apart from durabilty and longevity, the functionality is superb. They're way too big for me (I should have gone for 12oz in retrospect), but the wrist support is brilliant, they've all but cured me of wrist problems I used to have owing to lesser gloves. The padding is hard as hell at first, but once they break in a bit they strike just the right balance between shock absorbtion and pop on the bag for me. You won't find a better bag glove for the price in my opinion.

Protects Your Hands
Fairtex from Thailand is the best manufacturer for kickboxers, especially Muay Thai practitioners. The gloves are comfortable, and protect your hands really well. You can easily get used to them. The leather is good quality, the stitching is good, and the craftsmanship is impeccable. It also looks really good. 10/10.

Great Quality & Terrible Design (Buy the BGV1 instead)
Still the great quality that comes with all Fairtex products but the design is terrible. This was supposed to be their boxing glove (not Muay Thai). However itโs just another style of Muay Thai glove. Itโs got a really long sleeve and all the padding is between the middle and distal phalange so hitting hard naturally pushes your wrist downward causing injury. Itโs got an open palm Muay Thai style with a really open thumb. The only thing boxing related about the glove is the focus on front padding and the very long straight pro style boxing design. However without laces and the positioning of the padding this glove is just prone to causing self inflicting injuries during hard sparring.

Good quality Gloves !!!
I owned a pair of 12 oz. I love this pair of gloves for overall training , bag work and thai pads work. It is not the best for clinch work like tradional muay thai gloves with shorter cuffs, but it works , clinching not all about the gloves .. it is about your technique . but it is a pair of well constructed and hands felt well protected . Fairtex always have good quality products which last for a while with your proper care of their gear. Price is at the mid range , but quality is mid to top of the tier..... Will recommend this to everyone for kickboxing , muaythai and boxing

Good value for Mexican style gloves
These gloves are sustainably smaller 16oz gloves relative to other 16oz styles. These have a sleeker profile and cover the wrist more so than other thai style gloves. The build quality is great. The foam is harder than most, however it does get softer over time. They do the job for clinching and catching kicks, not as nibble as thai-gloves but can still get it done. I hate the pillow style of some gloves these are slimmer. If your style of fighting is punching centric these are the gloves to get.

None of that 2โ excessive padding over the knuckles.
The bgv9 has a flatter surface on the knuckle face of the glove this lets you land with your knuckles and you can feel if you are landing with them and without excess padding on the knuckles im actually able to clothes my hand. It does not have a big fat marshmallow on your knuckles that artificialy skew your reach and muffle your hands ability to feel. second pair i bought first ones i bought i rated 4 stars now years later and many gloves later im back for a second pair and have to say its 5 stars
