Stays on. Doesn't run in eyes. I am very fair skinned so I want good protection. I grew tired of the chemical products. I would use zinc oxide on my nose during my surfing days. That's all we had. This product blocks the sun. When first applied you may appear a bit ghostly but that will dissipate after a while.
