My experience is pretty limited to the generic wood hoops. These hoops LOOK very nice. Exactly as expected. Up close, the wood grain does look artificial but from far away, they're beautiful. Now, the bad: these do not actually tighten at all. The hook at the top is strictly for hanging. The "wood" portion of the hoop is very rubbery and flexible but I've found that getting them fastened to the white, back piece is incredibly difficult when there's fabric in between. The material is pretty cheap feeling. Overall, they do what they're supposed to.

They're perfect!
I used this for cross stitching because I don't care for the wooden rings with the tightening thingy. These were perfect!
