Melody flies to London to speak at a convention about differently abled kids in this โwarm and beautifully toldโ ( Kirkus Reviews , starred review) sequel to the acclaimed, New York Times bestselling middle grade novels Out of My Mind and Out of My Heart . When Melody saves an elderly back-in-the-day actressโs life, she ends up on their local TV channel. The studio is so impressed with Melody that they arrange for her to be a speaker at an international symposium for kids who are differently abled, and this yearโs symposium is in London! To Melodyโs utter shock and delight, her parents say yes. Yes! Melody finally gets to fly on an airplane, and many adventures in London await, including a cheeky interaction with a royal guardโs horse, becoming a little too acquainted with old-timey armor, and a run in with one of the most popular pop stars on the planet! But the biggest adventure is the I.D.E.A. symposium. There, Melody meets kids from all over the world who are rallying for greater accessibility and more thoughtful planning on how to make the world more equal for every kid, no matter the challenges they face. But as Melodyโs time to speak approaches, big-time nerves set in: how can a girl whoโs never spoken a word out loud in her life give an entire speech?

It's A BIG Yes!!!
I bought this book now so don't forget to read it. I read the first two in the series, Out of My Mind and Out of My Heart. My granddaughter told me I had to read Out of My Mind when she was in the 5th grade. So I did. I found it so compelling, I recommended it to my adult book club. After the initial flack of recommending a 'kid's book', everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, thought the book was amazing. In case you're not sure, I LOVE THESE BOOKS! My grandson read it and wrote me a three page book report i didn't believe he was capable of. He was already a compassionate child, but the book gave him a new perspective and he was genuinely affected by the main character, a young girl named Melody who has cerebral palsy, and what she went through. All that to say, no matter your age, read Out of My Mind. Have your kids read it, or read it to them. Have a family book club discussion. As my granddaughter told me, "just read it. "

Good story. Bad print copy. Defective book
Story is great. But our copy is defective. Goes from page 152 to 121 and repeats until the second 152 then jumps to page 185. This stinks. I guess weโll have to get it from the library since my return window has passed

Phenomenal Book!
This is such a great book! My students fell in love with book 1. So, I bought both book 2 and 3. I couldnโt keep them on my shelf! I highly recommend this entire series! You will fall in love with the character and be able to have great conversations over the trials she faces.

What a fantastic follow up book to Out of My Mind
This story is wonderful and is perfect for the preteen readers. I, as an adult really love the series, as I find it full of hope for the generations coming into adulthood. Sharon Draper is a wonderful author! I believe these books should be on the must read list of all schools

Great read for anyone.
My daughter has absolutely enjoyed reading this series from Sharon M Draper. She is one of my favorite authors, and now has captured my daughter's heart with this story about Melody's incredible journey.

A must read
I have a sister with Cerebral Palsy who never went to school. The book and movie should be shown in school to help students understand the disability.

Good but not as good as the first two books
Melody is true and dear to my heart; I have loved her story. This book was a bit disappointing, though. I agree with others in that the ending felt cut off (I wanted to see her in that recording studio! I also wanted to see her get home safely). This book just didn't quite have the same feel or magic the first two had.I had trouble believing a former movie star couldn't afford her own plane ticket to England, but okydoky. Also, in 2011 (the year this book is based out of), there were only 7 billion people in the world, not 8 like there are now. If you're gonna go back in time for your story, you just gotta make sure the facts are correct :)It really bothered me that the 911 dispatcher so easily dismissed the phone call as a prank. Here in Canada, if you don't say anything after calling 911 (or even hang up before anyone answers because you misdialed), they send police anyway because they recognize something might be wrong and you can't talk, are in grave danger, or you're seriously hurt. If Melody was making noises but not words, surely someone with a brain would realize "hey, perhaps this person legit cannot speak to me but needs help" rather than accuse them of playing a game. I truly hope there are not 911 dispatchers like that out there; surely their training includes these possibilities!Lastly, I had to chuckle at all the "British" words pointed out in the book that I use in my daily, Canadian life. Guess we're more alike than I thought after all!
