My doctor recommended this product as part of my preparation for a surgical procedure. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. GOOD NEWS: • Great Value for the price • Great quality - It tastes absolutely delicious. • Only 6g of sugar. • 50g of carbohydrates. • 200 calories. • Contains the antioxidants zinc and selenium. • Certified kosher by the Orthodox Union. THINGS TO KNOW: • This is not intended to be a complete meal replacement. • It contains no saturated fat or trans fat. • It provides 0g of protein, dietary fiber, calcium, and potassium. These aren't really drawbacks—they're intentional. This product is formulated specifically for pre-surgery nutrition, so its nutritional profile is designed to meet that purpose rather than serve as a balanced meal. Overall, I was very impressed. The taste was far better than I expected, and I found it soothing and easy to drink. If your doctor recommends this product as part of your pre-surgery preparation, I would definitely recommend it.

I would encourage anyone to utilize this drink pre- surgery. I would have bought the whole set (the pre and post) if I had had more warning about the date of surgery. It is excellent in supporting your body through the surgical time.

This review is for Ensure Pre-Surgery, Clear Carbohydrate Drink, Strawberry, 10 fl oz, 4 Count. The surgeon required two of these on a pre-surgery timetable. The person who needed these said they tasted just fine and drank one at room temperature and the other cold. Admittedly, these are surprisingly high cost, but I assume it is because of the pre-surgery labeling to get a premium. There is research to show that pre-op carb-loading drinks reduce insulin resistance, lowers postoperative nausea & vomiting, can potentially short hospital stays, and improves patient comfort.

I bought this for my pre-colonoscopy diet. I wanted something clear for the day before that would give me a bit of brain power. It didn't taste too bad. I wouldn't drink it for fun but I'm very picky about artificially flavored drinks so if it doesn't make me gag, it's a winner!

I was surprised by how many people think that this item, Ensure Pre-Surgery, is the same thing as Ensure sold at grocery stores. This is a special form of Ensure Clear, not just transparent, but without any color at all, which is designed to be a part of a strict clear liquids diet before a medical procedure, such as surgery or colonoscopy. You would not drink it more than a day, and there is no other reason to drink it other than for a medical procedure. It is totally clear (no color at all). It comes in strawberry flavor, but the flavor is very subtle and I would probably not even guessed that it is strawberry if it was not written on the bottle. It is probably an artificial strawberry flavor. The taste is agreeable, but I would not drink it if I did not have a good reason to. I used it for prep for colonoscopy. Ensure Pre-Surgery is not carried by grocery stores or pharmacies, so I was very glad to find it on Amazon. It is unlikely that someone would drink more than 4 bottles during the day of clear liquids diet (in most cases it is a one day prep, although it may be different in some cases, I just do not know). The difference with Ensure Clear is that Ensure Clear is transparent, but has a strong color to it (and tastes better). Depending on the type of medical procedure which you are preparing for, Ensure Clear might also work (and it would have more flavors and would taste better and it is also cheaper) - ask your doctor.
