Senbird Caffeine-Free Brown Rice Loose Tea - Genmaicha Tsukimi (3.5oz)

I really love this roasted brown rice tea. What makes it especially interesting is that because it’s just the roasted rice without green tea, you can control exactly how strong you want that wonderful toasted rice aroma and flavor to be simply by adjusting how much you use. It’s delicious brewed on its own and caffeine-free, but my favorite discovery is how versatile it is. You can add some of the roasted rice to other teas and essentially customize them with as much or as little roasted brown rice flavor as you want. If you already enjoy genmaicha but particularly love the toasted rice component, this gives you a lot of freedom to experiment. The roasted rice aroma is the part I enjoy most, and this really delivers. It’s a unique product that I would happily purchase again. The product comes inside a sealed paper bag inside the tin.

This is the second tea I have tried from Senbird. The quality is excellent. This Genmaicha has an excellent nutty flavor. Nice to have a caffeine free tea with flavor. The tin is a very nice perk. Helps keep it fresh tasting.

I’m honestly torn if I should be consuming this as a tea or as a snack - both ways are delicious and light! Japan never fails me and neither does Senbird tea. Another solid product that is healthy, zero waste since you can eat the brown rice, and simple to make.

Good quality tea, had a nice toasted, earthy finish to the brown rice. It’s a nice hearty addition to add to green tea.

Tastes perfect. I love the smell and taste of this sweet rice tea. I think it needs to steep a bit longer than 5 minutes. This tea is so perfect to relax with before bed. I highly recommend. It’s expensive, but so good!

Very high quality and superb taste

Exactly what I wanted but has 11% less than advertised. The rice itself comes in a sealed bag so I tared the scale with the container, added the contents and got 89 grams - not the stated 100 grams.

This genmai rice is a bit pricey, but it goes a long way. We used to be able to buy just the roasted rice and popped rice in a huge bag at our local Japanese market, but it's no longer sold. We searched and searched and finally found this. And as far as quality, it very good in that it has a large amount of popped rice mixed in with the roasted rice kernels. It's called tea, but technically, there isn't any real tea leaves included. Many products are sold as teas because some apparently brew the popped and roasted rice straight without actual green tea leaves, and it's considered a "tea" in the sense that it's a brewed beverage made by brewing roasted and popped rice. However, we use this in a more traditional way by adding it to green tea, to make genmaicha or green tea with roasted rice. Very delicious and satisfying. I deducted a star because it's a bit more pricey than how I used to buy the roasted and popped rice in bulk, but given that it's hard to find and the fact that a little goes a long way, it's still worth buying! We can highly recommend Senbird!
