Typical Timex
Just love this watch. Itโs a little larger dial than the โtypicalโ 38mm,which is what I was looking for. Works perfectly. Keeps decently accurate time, solid built metal case and glass crystal. Leather strap not too stiff so break in is not really a concern. I like Timex best for reliability, features and price. Plus itโs easy to change readily available batteries (which last about 1-2 years). Getting lots of compliments on it. One small oddity, what should be the second hand is actually a tachometer/chronograph function. The second hand is actually a smaller dial near the 6 oโclock position. Seems odd especially if youโve never owned a hand sweep chronograph watch. Not a big deal just need to retrain your brain for the second hand. Timex has been my go to watch for years now and Iโve never had an issue with them except the occasional band or battery replacement. I wear them to work and am NOT easy on them at all. They just work. In my opinion, they are a great value. Moderate watches typically cost well over $100, Timexโs core watches are about 1/2 that price usually. Although the company has ventured into the upscale watch arena a few years ago and are also value packed and very good looking, some costing as much as $1000! For my daily driver kind of budget, Iโll stick with their core line basic watches thanks

Solid timepiece from Timex
Style: T49905 - blk/blk/brown leather band Easy to read, watch face is well laid out and I like the contrast of the numbers against the background. It's been a while since I had a watch with Indiglo so it was nice to see that again. However, with the white hands, it's a little tough to read in the dark when the backlight is on, though it does have glow in the dark hands. Watch has a heavy, quality feel to it. Well constructed, like it may take a knock or two. Much beefier than any of the previous Timex watches I've owned. I was concerned about the crown size and it hitting the back of my hand in certain positions but it seems to be fine. I feel it but it's not nearly as prominent as I thought. If you have bad eyes like me, it may be tough to read without glasses on. The band fits well after oiling the leather --- cuts down drastically on break-in time. It always seems like I'm right in between two of the settings so oiling will help the band stretch a little in the tighter position. The color is pretty light fresh out of the box and the thread contrast is pretty retro. I found that oiling it also helped sort of detune that a little bit. I'm always one of those types that has to mod something the second I take it out of the box or it just isn't going to work. Oiling the leather band was the trick. I was on the fence and considering ordering a different one until I took a few minutes and hand rubbed some leather oil in to get it much darker and more pliable. Super comfortable. And thick, too. Seems like it will hold on for a few years. I bought a "used" one for a slightly discounted price -- in this economy, ffs!? Arrived just fine, intact, no signs of having been worn, just out of its original box and returned. Arrived in a factory box on factory wrist holder for the band, instructions were included, and arrived with a fresh battery installed -- just need to remove the tab to engage time and start the watch. Also, register the lifetime warranty. You'll likely never need to anything other than change the battery but if you ever do, they'll fix it for free. Also, I am not affiliated with Timex in any way. I'm just hopped up on the watch I just got and feel like writing a nice review about it. Highly recommended watch and happy to replace that $60 smartwatch. I was ready to get back to a real time piece. Nice choice!

Nice Watch... But Buyer Beware!
This is a great looking and very functional watch for the price, so I was very disappointed to find it didn't work properly. Close examination revealed a tiny plastic collar preventing the crown from being fully depressed as necessary. I'm aware most new watches come with a small plastic tab that must be removed to activate the watch: this was not that. Those tabs are designed to be easily removed with one's fingertips. This collar (shown in the photo) was barely accessible due to the crown, and could not be removed even with fine-tipped watch repair tools. I contacted Timex customer support and sent them the photo. They evaded my question as to what the collar was and why it was there, but confirmed it needed to be removed for the watch to function, suggesting I bring it to a jeweler/watch repair shop. Well, the watch isn't such a bargain anymore if I've got to pay someone to get it to work -- so I returned it and requested a replacement. Wouldn't you know it? The replacement had the same stupid plastic collar preventing it from working. This time I decided to see if I could fix it myself. I removed the case back with a pry knife, removed the plastic battery cover, used a pin-punch to release the watch stem, and fully removed the stem from the case, finally freeing the offending plastic collar. Pretty straightforward if you have the tools. Reassembly was trickier, as two miniscule push bars fell out when the plastic battery cover was removed. These allow the chronograph pushbuttons to activate the stopwatch. They're smaller than a grain of rice and sit loosely within tiny channels in the battery cover, so they are very prone to falling out as the cover is put back in place. It took several attempts to get the battery cover situated with them still seated. Then it was just a matter of carefully placing the watch in a case press to snap the case back in place. Once reassembled, the watch worked fine. I replaced the rubber strap with a NATO strap, and it's now a favorite daily beater watch. I'm astounded no other reviewers seem to have encountered this issue when I encountered it TWICE, but I've detailed it here in case others run into the same problem. Disassembling the watch to remove the troublesome plastic collar isn't that big a deal if you have watch repair tools and steady hands -- but if that's not you, you might have to decide whether it's worth paying a jeweler to repair your brand new watch.

Highly recommended for a first-time buyer!
As a newcomer to the world of watch collecting, I wanted my first serious piece to be something reliable, functional, and stylish. After spending some time with the Timex Expedition Field Chronograph, I can safely say it exceeded my expectations. Design and Build Quality The first thing that caught my eye was the color palette. The earthy, rugged tones give it a great "field watch" look that works for both daily wear and outdoor adventures. Despite its 43mm size, the weight feels substantial without being overbearing. The finish is impressive for this price point; it feels incredibly durable and well-built, like it can actually handle the "Expedition" name. Readability and Function I was initially a bit worried that the chronograph sub-dials might make the face look cluttered, but I found it surprisingly easy to read. Once you get used to the layout, tracking the time at a glance is a breeze. The "Killer Feature": INDIGLO The standout feature is definitely the INDIGLO backlight. It is, quite simply, excellent. It makes reading the time in low-light or total darkness effortless. Itโs one of those features you donโt realize how much you need until you have it. Final Verdict For anyone just starting their collection, this watch offers a perfect blend of style and utility. It feels like a tool that is built to last, and Iโm really happy with how it looks on the wrist. Highly recommended for a first-time buyer!

Uncompromising Quality at Every Price Point
I really like this watch. The case and back are made of steel and it is substantial. The glass is very hard and clear. The writing on the face is subtly three dimensional (itโs not just printed on the surface). Even the three circles on the face have very precise, slightly raised concentric circles. Itโs a little hard to see the black hour and minute hand agains the military green watch face in low light. But it is also what makes this watch aesthetically unique. I am a little confused as to why the second hand is bright yellow, but the hour and minute hand are not outlined in yellow. If you are in sunlight, itโs easy to read the time. I got the version with the rubber band. I like that a lot too. Soft, substantial, pliable. Very comfortable. Timex is consistently high quality for each price point (ranging from $20 resin cases to $2,000 titanium). If you pay more, the materials and details match that price. But, the quality is always uncompromising. And their watches are both simple and aesthetically pleasing.

Great watch, but serious design flaw; Not expedition worthy.
This is a great watch. Love the metal casing, band, and aesthetic design. Although it looks and 'feels' rugged, it is not worthy for the man of adventure. Let me explain. The middle knob of the watch (the main knob that you push for light/pull to set time) is a bit large and too exposed for its own good. This makes the knob vulnerable to any stress. Example, if you flex your wrist/hand backwards throughout your adventures, whether pushing yourself off the ground or climbing over rocks, the back of your hand places pressure on the knob. The knob eventually reacts to this stress by breaking off. The knob has a little metal stem behind it that appears to be made of lower quality metal. This knob is crucial to the watch as it is used to set the time (by pulling and turning knob). Without it, the watch is useless regarding time. If you are having difficulty understanding the hand/wrist stress, think of yourself in a push-up position while wearing the watch. The back of your hand places stress on the knob which is exacerbated by the angle of the watch strapped in that position. Perhaps I had a fluke, but this same problem happened on 3 watches. Yes, I loved this watch so much, that I purchased it 2 more times. The knob on the first one broke after being in the field doing archaeology, the second in an outdoor adventure, and the 3rd occurred by simply pushing myself off the floor after lying down. The knob broke off in all 3. This is a design flaw combined with low quality metal for the metallic rod behind the knob. If you look at a few other Timex 'expedition' models, you'll see the case is molded to the sides of the knob, protecting it from stress. This particular model could use something like that. I really loved this watch and still do. But I cannot recommend it to men who do active things. If you have a simple life working in the office and come home to the couch, this watch will suit you fine. For all others who move their hands in all sorts of directions, beware of this watch.

Great starter Field Watch. Rugged but simple and elegant.
I've been wanting to own a field watch for a while. I never got used to smart watches anyway, so I decided to go for a good brand that doesn't cost too much. I decided for this Time Expedition because it gas a good balance between rugged looks, simplicity and elegance. It's perfect for wearing every day, but also great for when you need to dress up as well. If you are planning on getting this watch, be aware that the seconds are tracked on the small dial at the bottom. The large "seconds" hand it's meant for the chonograph feature, so it will sit static at the zero mark until you start the chonograph. You also need to set it up out of the box. It's a simple process to set up the time, the date and reset the small dials in the zero position. The watch came without a manual, but there are plenty of videos on Youtube showing how to set up and use this exact model The band is simple but elegant. It looks like nobuck but it's not really real leather. I can't say how durable it is yet or how long it will look over the time, but Timex is respectable enough so I expect this band to last several months. It can be replaced and there are lots of aftermarket options so I don't worry about this. As other Expedition watches, it also comes with the Indiglo feature. You can activate night mode by pushing down the main button, then the entire face lights up. When using this feature, I noticed that the hands (being white) do not have a good contrast against the lit up face, but you get used to it. The hands themselves are bright under low-light conditions, so you don't really need the Indiglo feature unless you need to see other details from the watch Anyway, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Did not arrive in original packaging, though I do like the watch.
The watch is great, I love it. I've had it for a week now and it's comfortable, functional, and stylish. However, I'm giving it only 3 stars because of how I received it. It was delivered in a ziplock sleeve with the warranty sheet stuffed in a bubble wrap package. I bought what was described as a new product, but it did not come in the original package, nor owners manual. I had to find the manual from the manufacturer's website in order to set the dang thing!! It begs the question... Did I really receive a genuine Timex timepiece? Either way, so far I'm happy with the product with the exception that the second hand on the stop watch sits about half a click left of noon. I have not yet tested the water resistance, which I'm a little apprehensive about since there seemed to be some sort of light colored lubricant or seal around the crown. I'll have to try it before my time frame for returns has passed. All in all, I would buy it again, just not from amazon fulfillment! UPDATE: I haven't worn the watch in over a year because the crown used to set the time has popped off. Spent no small amount of time trying to find a replacement, but I can't find good measurements for it. Would have to have access to an assortment and go by trial and error.... I guess it still deserves 3 stars?

Great value chronograph by Timex.
This is a long way from being my most expensive watch but it is right up there with being one of the good looking watches and it is a serious chronograph the second hand that runs all the time is at the 6:00 position and the large sweep hand only runs when you are timing something, many have the recorded seconds on one of the sub dials which makes them difficult to read reliably. The watch will time up to 30 minutes to an accuracy of 0.05 seconds. It is a lovely looking watch that is reasonably waterproof and comfortable to wear. The nice leather strap is a bit of luxury and on top of all this, it has a night light for telling the time in the dark. It's a great watch and excellent value for money.

Awesome
Very pleased. Considering the dimensions, I worried this would be too big (7inch wrist) but it looks really great. I think it would be fine on a 6.5 inch wrist and up. Band is super comfortable, and watch feels much higher quality than I paid. My only complaint is that the 3rd extra dial for 1/20th chrono time is kind of stupid and unnecessary. Would be better to have a day of the week dial here instead. Overall great watch and definitely recommend.
