You get what you pay for!
This is one of those times when you hear "you get what you pay for" and it means you're paying a little more but you're getting a high quality item that is going to serve you well for years to come! This thing is rock solid! I've used commercial slicers before and this home version is right up there with the best of them. No, it doesn't have an auto slice feature, but unless you're planning on cutting thousands of slices per day you don't need that anyway. The thickness adjustment is smooth and provides a wide range to choose from. Slicing meat is a breeze. Slicing cheese, even if not slightly frozen, is still fairly easy, but it's really easy if it's COLD (not frozen, but not just refrigerated either....I put a block in the freezer for about 75 minutes and was perfect). If you plan on doing cheese a LOT you may want to consider the teflon coated blade. The only hard part is lifting it. This thing is heavy! So find a place for it and leave it there! lol Disassembly can be a little difficult if you tighten the screws too much, but once you get the screws loosened the rest of disassembly is straightforward and simple. Just be careful you don't cut yourself on the blade. It is sharp! I highly recommend purchasing a blade removal tool or some cut resistant gloves for when removing the blade.

A great slicer
This slicer is awesome. I use it to slice many different meats, but mostly either beef roasts or bacon that I cured and smoked. Although I have not made prosciutto, I have tried slicing the bacon that thin, and I can do it. Pros: easy to use, repeatable slices at thick or thin. I slice bacon thick (setting 5) and beef for sandwiches at about setting 2. One hint is to slice the meet when it is cool, but not frozen. You can slice frozen, but it tends to be difficult. The slicer runs very quietly and smoothly, and cuts through the meat with little effort. Note that neither this slicer nor any other I have seen is intended to cut bones - don't do it. Cleaning is not all that difficult, but you do have to take the machine apart including taking the blade off, which has three screws that hold it in. It takes me about 15 minutes to clean it. Unfortunately you need to do it by hand. Also, the blade is unbelievably sharp; so, I HIGHLY recommend you get some of the gloves that are intended for dealing with sharp knives, etc. They look like chain mail. The slicer comes with a sharpening stone that is easy to install and use, and it works! Cons: The instructions are not so obvious. Fortunately, the slicer came with the blade on; so, you don't need the assembly instructions. Some reviews complain that the slicer is too heavy (40 lbs), but it has to be; otherwise it would slip all over the place. That said, the weight is not really a con, but a necessity both because of the powerful motor and for stability. The only real con I can come up with is that there are a few little nooks and crannies in which meat "dust" tends to accumulate; so, cleaning requires some care. I use Clorox wipes followed by a damp paper towel. To deal with the weight, I purchased a rolling table from Ikea that is the same height as my counter top. This has a wooden butcher block top and two metal shelves. Perfect for the slicer, and I can roll it into the laundry room when it is not being used. Again, I can't recommend enough some good gloves for handling the blade if you like your fingers. I got these: NoCry Cut Resistant Gloves - High Performance Level 5 Protection, Food Grade. Size Large for about $10. Well worth it. I have seen that the slicer comes in a 10" model and a 12" model. Go for the larger size. You will need it. Also, there is an option to get a Teflon coated blade or not. Go with it, it is only about $10 more, and the Teflon keeps the meet from sticking to the blade. Not the edge, of course, but the rest of the blade.

It’s what you’d expect for the price. Nothing more or less
Spent countless hours over many months deciding which meat slicer to get, after watching every video, reading all the reviews on all the variations and brands of slicers, pricing every slicer everywhere. Decided to get this one, and am satisfied with value, material quality, size and cut quality. I will state I’m very particular and expect every cents worth from my dollar. It’s far better than the under $200 slicers, it’s enough better/bigger than the $3-400 slicers to be worth the difference if you need the increased size/power, and it’s high enough quality to be worth saving the additional $800 you’d spend on a big H brand slicer unless you plan on running this in a commercial setting nonstop (this is not my use so I can’t say either way if it’ll do that from experience). Just right for a home kitchen, someone who processes their own meats, food truck, small restaurant, caterer, and others who might use a meat slicer a few hours per day. Size wise it will cut full sides of bacon into paper thin or thick cut slices as good as the butcher shop can, will fit large roasts for cheesesteak or sandwich meats, will turn large cuts into steaks of any thickness 1/2” or under, it’s a bit oversized for summer sausage but still cuts it perfectly. Sliced 5lbs of frozen beef roast in about 15 minutes, paper thin and better than the butcher will do it. I prefer my deli meats shaved so thin they’re basically transparent and it gets that job done well. 1/2hp motor doesn’t bog down and will slice anything I can fit onto the feed table including hard cheeses like aged cheddar. If you’ll mostly just be slicing sandwich meats you’ll be ok with a smaller model, but if you want to be able to slice at the same level as the deli counter this one gets the job done. Be aware it is the same size as most deli counter meat slicers, this is not going to fit under a cupboard, it’s pretty much the same depth as a countertop. Have a plan for storage if it won’t always be on the counter, I’m placing it on wheeled cart so I can easily move it to the food prep area when it will be used, then the sink, then back away without having to lift this appx 60lbs multiple times for each use. People mention clean up in many reviews, the blade tool makes this a stress free process and worth the additional cost in my opinion. Like any nsf slicer this needs to be disassembled for cleaning, a straightforward process similar to any other slicer of the same type 9”-10”-12”-13”. Just remove feed tray with one knob and wash in sink, remove blade shield to wash front of blade while the blade is attached, then remove blade with tool and wash back side and then sanitize the body, reassemble in reverse, takes 10-15 minutes. Watch a cpl how to videos and you’ll be okay. Arrived on time undamaged direct from KWS in Southern Cali, ordered on a Monday and it was on my step in the Midwest by lunch on Friday. I rarely write reviews but was satisfied enough with this item that I took the time to do this one, maybe it’ll help someone like me who was on the fence… only regret is I didn’t order it earlier… I got no discount, no kickback, and have no affiliation with KWS. Paid full price, and am sharing my opinion of the KWS MS-12DS slicer only. Although I would expect that all their 12” slicers are very similar and likely their 10” slicers as well, are of the same quality and value. I doubt it’s going to break with my use, but I would buy another one. Hopefully any of that was helpful to someone considering this.

Using mine at home
I purchased this product for my home kitchen. I have mixed feelings about the slicer. The Bad: - The unit came with a number of minor blemishes and scratches. (None worthy of complaining about by themselves.) - When I took the blade off to clean the unit, I found metal shavings inside. While these would not be exposed to any food being cut, they were a mess to deal with when cleaning the unit. (The shavings were under the blade mount.) - The unit is difficult to clean. Not too bad, just not convenient. - The blade is a pain to clean, you have to disassemble the unit partially to clean. Especially around the ring guard. - The 'depth' calibration is off. On the depth knob, zero is not zero. Again, not a bid deal, just a lack of attention in manufacturing. - The 'gap' between the slide and the product tray and the backstop is a little wide. Food can be pulled into this gap. The Good: - The teflon blade is exceptional. Love it. - The unit is solid, the slide moves easily, and it cuts very nicely. - Very powerful and no issues cutting - The 0.6" cut depth is very good. For the home, this unit requires a lot of work to clean. So if you are only going to slice a little bit, the cleaning may be more work than it is worth. I feel it would do very well in a commercial setting where this unit would get a lot of use before being cleaned at the end of the day. (Again, I purchased this for my home, and I knew what I was getting into. So this is not a complaint, I'm just making others aware.) Overall, I feel it is a good unit and worth the money. When using it at home, it has sliced VERY well and I'm happy with its performance. I've used it to slice beef for Bulgogi, fresh bread, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, vegetables, etc... It works well. My only real concerns are that the unit could have been designed to make cleaning it a bit easier. Definitely a good product, and I am happy with it.

So far, so good
I'm new to meat slicers, but I did a bunch of research and reviews. I settled on this brand (a person I know has the 10" version) and this size - 12". It's nice and heavy - which is what I wanted. I wanted it to be stable and it definitely is. Everything seems well made and designed (for usage). Couple of things: 1) The plastic shipping guard broke and left a piece inside the post where the sharper attachment goes. I couldn't figure out why the sharpening stones weren't making content. Very frustrating, until I looked inside round slot and saw the partial obstacle. Once that was removed, the sharpening module worked just fine. 2) If you try to cut meat that is too soft (like meat that is almost "pulled" part), it may fling it out the opposite side. This was a shocker for me hahah. Lesson learned. 3) Get no-cut or cut-resistance gloves! The blade is both insanely sharp AND heavy. It's awkward at first to handle it when cleaning. I practiced about 3 times assembling and disassembling it (and cleaning it) before I became more comfortable with it. AGAIN, the blade is HEAVY. I recommend a portable wash container that's right next to the unit, rather than trying to carry it over to the sink or whatever. If you drop it on your foot.. well, it'll probably go through bone. Best not to find out. 4) The screws that hold in the blade are phillips type. I'm not a fan. I'll probably replace them with allen screws at some point (I know a machinist that can make them for me). But more importantly, there's no "lock" for the blade, which makes it awkward to remove the screws. I had to use a rubber wedge to stop the blade from moving while I torqued the screws (for both removing and assembling). Not a big deal, but I was a bit surprised by this lack of design. Other than that, it's pretty nice. I even cut some bread with it (a french loaf with a hard crusty outside). Meats and cheeses cut really nice on it. I do plan on shaving some frozen meats (for hotpot) and the 400+ watt power should be able to handle the job.

Exactly what we have been looking for! A++
I purchase this slicer mainly for slicing frozen meat for hot pot since our family LOVE to get together for hot pot especially during winter time. Before I purchased this slicer, I have done so many research but not too much information can be found. Only one video was found on youtube for their 6” model. So I hope this review could help you folks out a little. I was originally hving a hard time choosing between the 10” and 12” meat slicer, cuz I was worry that the 12 inch will overkill our kitchen. But I am glad that I ended up getting the 12” cuz it slices frozen meat like a beast. The package was arrived in perfect conditional and the shipping time was super quick like 2 days after I ordered. The sharpener attachment and legs can be found in the holes before you left up the Styrofoam packaging. You will need to install those to the machine before turning it on, they also give you the clear plastic thing to put on the side of the meat tray but we didn’t use it. The slicing process was smooth and fast, and the machine was quiet and sturdy. My wife was surprised cuz she barely need to use any energy to push the tray. I bought the lamb leg and boneless ribeye roast from Costco and sliced them into about 1mm pieces, you could slice it even thinner but that’s how I prefer mine. The cleaning wasn’t easy but wasn’t too bad neither, it took me and my wife about 15 – 20 mins to thoroughly clean it. I did email the company before hand for cleaning instruction, so I know what I am getting into. The representative was very helpful and provide me with video. I would recommend to clean the machine immediately right after cutting so that the meat pieces and blood wouldn’t dry out and stick on the machine. Like everybody else said, cut resistance glove is a MUST when taking the blade off, the blade is super sharp and heavy. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and would recommend to everyone.

Seriously solid
After smoking smaller slicer motors, this was a big step up. Heavy full, restaurant size machine. Blade removal for cleaning is a little challenging because of the weight and 3 Phillips screws involved. Cut resistant gloves suggested. Great thin cuts for its size. Generational quality. Not an “under the counter” machine. This requires a home on a counter or sturdy stainless Cart/table.

Phenomenal quality.
This ain't no Hobart. But I recon this is the best slicer you can get for the price! Vevor, and all your typical bass pro brands or similar mfct slicers be damned! I spent a lot of time researching the best meat slicer for an obsessive home chef. I love to smoke meats, make jerkey, fresh slice deli meats, and my wife is obsessed with Chinese hot pot. I've now sliced over 100lbs of meat on this thigh and it's holding strong. No wobble in the carriage, or blade, very precise, very consistent, and the look, finish, and build quality are very assuring. I do wish the meat holding arm was designed a little differently as to accommodate larger pieces of meat. But this is a 12" slicer. Anything larger that 10" in width or diameter really should be using a 16" slicer. But this is a mild complaint as I try to slice a whole semi frozen brisket. I still get it done!

Now this is a slicer that does it all from slicing paper thin prosciutto to making quick work of slicing cheese and meats.
