Great Vacuum
A few of our friends and family members have one of these vacuums. So, we decided to give it a try. Man, this thing works great. It gets around and under everything. The price was good, although there are others out there for less, but I think their battery life isn’t as good. This is easy to set up if you follow the instructions and works great from your cell phone, without having to manually turn it on. We’ve only used it a couple of times, both letting it do its thing and once on a programmed 45 minute clean. It knows where to return home or you can send it home at anytime during the cleaning cycle. Delivery was timely and before expected. The sensitivity feature works great, but it keeps looking for ways to get under things. It got stuck once (I corrected that problem) and showed up on my wife’s phone to say it was stuck. I found where it was and it had shut itself off since it knew it couldn’t move. We love it!

Very disappointing - could not return - don't purchase
I do not recommend this product. It is currently sitting in my corner plugged up and collecting dust. At first it worked decently well, got a lot of dust and dog hair left behind after cleaning, which was awesome! But after about a month it was unusable. I didn't realize when purchasing that this version does not allow you to block rooms or assign rooms, it's all random. I thought no worries I'll just set it and let it get everything. However after about a month it heads straight to one part of my house and tries to vacuum under a railing on a balcony ledge and gets stuck requiring assistance every single time. Within 5 min of turning on it does this, and it's every single time. I unstick it and move it to a different room, it goes right back. It is obsessed with this one spot. I hate this because this my Christmas present to myself and I had been wanting one for years! I finally bit the bullet and spent the money on myself because the deal was decent at Christmas (around $169) and the return window was extended. I thought I'd try it and see if it was worth the price and if not I'd return it. I tried for almost 30 days, used maybe 6-7x before I felt it just wasn't helpful due to the above issues. I looked into returning but I guess where it was not purchased from Amazon (who knew, as I most certainly purchased this from Amazon) the return window was less. No problem, I was still within my 30 day window. However, upon reading the fine print it said if you return they may reject the return and not refund your money or your product. I just couldn't take the chance because this was an expensive purchase. So I'm stuck with this product and honestly turned off of the whole robot vacuum product line which sucks because so many people have had such amazing luck with these products and I was so hopeful initially. I will also add this product was quite loud and bangs into walls and where you can't block rooms it could not be used at night (while sleeping) or when we were trying to watch TV. No problem I'll set it for when I leave the house, but since it became obsessed with getting stuck on the ledge I now can't use it at all. I will also add I almost never write bad reviews because I hate to hurt someone's business on what could be a unique fluke, but felt it was necessary in this case as the product was so expensive and the return process was misrepresented when I purchased the product leading to a false sense of security. Aside from the above issues the product worked great. Battery life was decent, didn't fill the canister too quickly, suction was excellent. But ultimately unusable.

Roomba Q0120 Cat Hair and Dust Bunnies Don’t Stand a Chance
This is iRobot’s entry-level Roomba Vac (Q0120), and I love her. I have two cats and a two-story townhome, so I run it daily to keep up with cat fur, dust bunnies, and mystery crumbs. The app doubles as a remote control, sending stuck alerts, battery warnings, and job completion notifications. I can pause vacuuming for a phone call without having to track it down. It even tells me when a part needs to be replaced. It is not silent, but I run it on a different floor than I am on, and it is not disruptive. It glides great on hard floors and area rugs, though pickup suffers a bit on thicker rugs. I do not have carpet. It occasionally gets into a standoff with furniture, but either finds its way out or alerts me that it needs help. This poor little vacuum has been through some things and is still going strong. I will never be without one!

Lacks smart features but overall cleans VERY well
My girlfriend and I purchased this roomba about a month ago for our new apartment that has only hard floors. Disclaimer is we have never used this on carpet. We have a cat and we were tired of manually vacuuming up tons of cat hair each week. SETUP: Setup was pretty easy. I just had to put a few parts together, download the app, and connect the robot to the Wifi. I did have some issues where it said the Wifi password was incorrect even though it wasn't, but after some research I found out that it was because I had special characters in my Wifi password. Why is this a limitation? No idea, kind of ridiculous but changing my Wifi password fixed this problem, and I haven't had any issues since. USE: Using this vacuum is super easy, you just click the start button on the vacuum or in the app. I also linked it together with HomeBridge so I'm able to ask Siri to start to vacuum as well. You can set up a run schedule in the app, but I set it up (again, through HomeBridge), so that it runs when neither of us are home. People say that it's loud when it's running, I think this is definitely overstated. It's nowhere near as loud as a normal vacuum. You can still have a conversation while it's running, but it can be annoying at times. RESULTS: After about a month of running the roomba every day, we finally decided to sweep the floors and picked up pretty much nothing. It has done a fantastic job of keeping our floors clean of dust, cat litter, cat hair, crumbs, and literally anything else. We find that we have to dump the bin about once a week, which is perfectly okay with us because it takes two seconds to do. When we make a small mess, like dropping something in the kitchen, the spot clean function works pretty well. But considering that you have to go pick up the roomba, set it in the right spot, click "spot clean", leave the area for a bit, and then manually move it back to the home, it just becomes more effort than its worth. At that point, grab a broom. DOWNSIDES: There are a few downsides to the roomba. The first of which is that it doesn't clean for the first few feet near its home. After about a month, you could tell a difference between the area immediately around the home and everywhere else in the apartment. This is some kind of software limitation that I don't fully understand, but just be aware of this. The second downside is that this roomba has zero idea where it's going, it just bumps into things to map out your home. Over time, it seems to learn a bit more about the space and does a better job at navigating, but this is just a sacrifice you have to make at this price point. Similarly, this roomba will run over anything. Socks, cords, cat toys, it has no idea about its surroundings so sometimes it gets stuck. We just have to check that we didn't leave anything on the floor before we leave the house, because if we did we probably will have to rescue the roomba when we get home. The software does a good job of alerting you when the robot is stuck, but it's still annoying. More expensive models use a camera to avoid obstacles, preventing these issues. And thirdly, this roomba has no support for vacuuming certain rooms or only certain areas. It has to vacuum your entire home in one go or nothing. Sometimes I wish I could tell it to vacuum the kitchen after I cook dinner, for example. But again, this is just a sacrifice you make at this pricepoint, and iRobot's more expensive models have this feature. OVERALL: For $250 this roomba is totally worth it, but if you can get it on sale like we did (~$150), this roomba is an absolute no-brainer. The lack of obstacle avoidance or ability to specify different rooms or areas to clean is annoying. But that can all be blamed on the fact that we bought the cheapest model that iRobot sells, because their more expensive models DO have these features. At the end of the day, our apartment is extremely clean without us lifting a finger, and that's what counts. 5 stars for the time and effort this roomba has saved us, even if we have to rescue it every few weeks.

Very low end Roomba
This is my 2nd Roomba. The first one, from 2017, broke down in 2023. I bought and changed the battery, brushes, new charger...no go. It would run for 2 minutes max. So I bought this one on sale after becoming unable to push an upright vacuum of any suction strength (have cancer). I charged it a full 24 hours upon receipt. Refused the app utilization after reading the privacy rights (lack of privacy is high, including releasing personal info from app to foreign countries). Since there is no other way to adjust power or even find full instructions I am considering returning it. So disappointed because I really liked my previous Roomba. It took me all day to block home areas to get a good clean. It gets stuck going in circles, runs into furniture and baseboards and did a horrible job of picking up anything on thin rug runners on kitchen floor (they are taped down so they don't move). I would like to have better self awareness of things it bangs into as well as docking itself on low battery. It just stopped. No warning beeps. I had to search it down. That was after vacuuming only my bedroom. I guess you get what you pay for. This one is looking like a return after 1 day of use.

Roomba Q0120 - pretty good with two cats and a dog
I've run my Roomba Q0120 for over 80 hours over three months. It's scheduled three times a week. I have a small dog and two cats and mostly tile floors with some fairly flat area rugs. We have a house with a large yard and often grass clippings and mud come in with either the people, who don't always kick off shoes or maybe attached to the dog. The Roomba does a decent job dealing with these challenges. Our house is noticeably cleaner between the days our cleaning person comes. There are many fewer dust bunnies, fur balls, bits of seed from our bird feeders, and grass clippings on our floors. The Roomba gets stuck under areas of low clearance (we identified two areas that we basically block off before the cleaning time). We also pick up the various cat toys so the Roomba doesn't choke on them. The Roomba roams for two hours+ and then usually self parks. Occasionally it gets stuck by one of our chairs that has USB cables all over. We had to move one lamp cord to keep the lamp from being pulled off a table. It's not quite like child-proofing a house, but you may need to do some Roomba-proofing. Usually the dust basket is filled with hair from our fairly fluffy cats. It's very satisfying to empty it and realize that's been dealt with and I didn't have to do it. On one occasion, our elderly dog released a brown trout in the dining room floor. The Roomba smeared it when it started before we woke up. Thank goodness the room is tile. We now make sure the coast is clear before running it. Cleaning the floor was fairly simple. Removing feces from the Roomba was somewhat more involved and fairly unpleasant. I never planned to have the Roomba replace our cleaning lady. I just wanted to tidy things up between her visits. It works for that purpose and does well. It had a learning curve but we've adjusted. It's been reliable. I like the notices for maintenance. It usually finds its way to home base, but not always, and that's ok. I occasionally spot clean our screened in porch and upstairs with our Roomba and it does fine. It detects and does not suicide dive off our stairs when it is upstairs. I had iRobot products (vacuum and mop) in the past. I got away from them because I didn't think they were that great and they were a little flaky or too complex to use. I think they've gotten much better. I have not tried other robot vacuums. I like the Roomba Q0120 and I would buy it again without hesitation. I may buy them for family members who are just moving into their own places. I hope this helps you navigate the decision I made a few months ago.

The original model was way superior
"Why fix something when it's not broken" is what I would ask iRobot Roomba. I ordered the original years ago and it has withstood the test of time...Loved it!!! My only issue was that it had issues properly boarding the charging dock. I'd have to jiggle it to get the charging censors to align. I have two Golden Retrievers so I thought I would move the older one upstairs and get a newer model for downstairs. The new model is terrible. It is overpriced for the VALUE. When I say it picks up minimal debris that is a fact. The design of the unit does not provide the suction to pull debris into the holding chamber. Therefore, every thing gets stuck at the point of entry and it stops picking up dirt and hair. When I go to empty the chamber, half the contents dump on the floor so I have to bring the vacuum out to take care of that. Totally defeats the purpose of hands free. Now I carry the whole thing to the kitchen and dump it over the trash. It does not have the dual brush - the original one had a secondary rubber brush that was fabulous and did not have an issue with getting tangled in long dog hair. The charger station is more sturdy on the new model. However, I was able to fix the charger station issue on the older model by adding a velcro strip to the floor to keep it in place. I have moved the old one back downstairs and am using it until I can buy one from another company at a reasonable price with the features I find effective. I will definitely do more research than relying on my own past experience thinking a new model would have the integrity of the original.

Defective models unable to fully charge
8/1/25 had to send it off the the wassanty company who did it could not be repaired, and was issued a full refund. I wanted this to work because I love it!!! Unfortunately they only last a few months. So no more robot vacuums for me. 6/4/25 so I updated paid $60 more for the “better” model and same thing the rotation ball is located in bad area therefore it barely makes contact with the charging plate and when it dies charge it in works for 15-20 mins. And dies then tryouts have to move furniture and look for it, it’s unable to go back to charge. This time I want my money back and again I have to wait 14-30 days for Amaxon to determine if I will or will not get a full refund. Do not buy this item due to Amazon’s new return policy on almost all products now. So I have no choice my hands are tied by Amazon policy. While they get the product back and you may get partial refund or even no refund. This product is defective all of this model has same issue. They can’t be fully charged. I won’t be buying a Roomba from Amazon again it’s been going since mid April. These late models are not able to charge properly due,you will just be returning it. 5/27/25. Number 5…..it has the same problem the charging connector are not tall enough to reach the clips in order to charge. It came charged and cleaned until it quit and I had to go look for it, did not connect to internet therefore it can’t find its way back to base . Useless!!! This will be the last one. It too will be returned. With a credit back to my card, I will never buy electronics, frames, rugs, metal items security equipment from Amazon. This new return policy of waiting 14 days is ridiculous. I’m telling you don’t buy this stuff unless you can afford to have your money tied up. Update: this is brand new but the charging plate is not correct, the ball that allows it to go in different directions, sticks out to far and there is no way for it to connect to charge. I have tried everything I know but it simply will not charge because the connectors can’t touch each other, the rotation ball is simply in the wrong place., there’s about 1/4 inch between them. After several tries, 4 separate Roomba vacuums this one will connect to 5G (AT&T)….I upgraded to hopefully get a new one, not sure why the last 3 were used I purchased new….anyway It appears to actually be a NEW one this time. It was easy set up. It’s cleaning now… The down side thus far is loudness !!! It’s very loud’ I’ll do an update in 30 days to let you know how things are going. Be aware Amazon has changed their return policy on most items. Especially electronics, you will now wait 10-14 DAYS to receive a refund or an Amazon gift card balance. This means they will tie up your funds for two weeks, while the inspect the item upon return, you may get a partial refund or no repay all. so if it’s an item you need right away I may suggest you buy local.

Dust Aligator
Cleans well. Works well with App. Learns apt layout quickly. Struggles with bathmat, otherwise all hard floors. Will update if device starts to lose battery life after few weeks, catches fire, dies a month after warranty expires, etc.
