Its cheap, it gets the job done... but that whining/hum noise can be annoying
As many other people have said, this unit DOES in fact have a very noticeable high-pitched whining/hum sound. In my personal application in my house (I have 4 speaker systems all connected together, for music), it gets the job done but I can't turn any of my speaker systems up above about 50-60% maximum volume before that high-pitched hum starts being audible. Most of the time I have no reason to turn my speakers up above that level, so it works fine enough for me. But it's pretty hard to recommend it to anyone else. For regular home users, just going with something like a cheap, 5 way headphone splitter hub is probably gonna give you similar results (you'll have to turn the volume up to max on all your speakers, which will create an audible humming noise, but hey, so does this cheap thing, and I'd probably rather hear a brown-noise electrical hum than this, which sounds like the feedback from an unplugged cable. The only real use case I can see for people is if you actually need 6 or 8 stereo systems all connected in sync (ie. maybe you own a bar), and for some reason you can really only afford to spend 20 bucks. If what you want is to have 8 stereos all playing at 50% volume, then this box will work fine for you. But go into it knowing that you'll be limited to 50% volume on all your stereos otherwise that high pitched hum will become annoying for you very quickly. And in all honestly, if you need this for some kind of business environment, I'd say you should most likely cough up 200 bucks for a real one from a reputable audio company, and not this cheap chinese thing.
