Where are they made? in UK or in China?

Good question, There is no any tag, so I guess it's Chinese

Im not sure if my wife can start at 5kg. Her hands are weak. She is a petite regular woman, not an athlete. Is this the best for her to begin with ?

Well, I had a nasty chainsaw accident to my hand, and after a lot of physiotherapy I was given the go ahead to use this hand gripper to strengthen my hand and it most definitely helped. You can adjust the pressure on gripper but I think your wife should check with your Gp first, Peter in Ireland.

What is the grip ring for?

The ring will develop hand and finger strength. Put the ring in your palm and simply close your fingers around it. Squeeze and hold. The grip ring is 7cm diameter so fits easily in a pocket for use during the day.

I’ve already bought this but I seem to have an issue with the main gripper the spring seem to ding everytime the handle is engaged is this normal?
