I bought this because my hands were too big for the cheaper plastic versions and it's way better. Unfortunately it's just more than what I need so I'm returning it. Also it's not much larger hand size wise all of these type reels seem to be too narrow for my hands. The locking mechanism is dope.

I fly big hard-pulling kites and this thing seemed like a no-brainer, something I absolutely needed to have. The truth is, it is made for small hands and the line gets tangled fairly easily if you are not vigilant about keeping it wound tightly. The build quality is great, although it's heavy. Maybe with more practice I will like it better!

Not a fan of the plastic break system and the lock itself that clicks into the metal loop to lock in place iseems to week in my opinion. And the ball handle is a little small. But, it's smooth.

I bought this along with 1094 yards of 180lb fishing line to fly my kite – probably overkill for what was recommended. It was supposed to arrive on Monday but got here Sunday; surprise, they deliver on Sundays! Sunday was super windy, so I immediately started reeling the line onto the reel. Once I finished, I biked to the park and let it rip! The wind snatched my kite, which is about 15-16ft. It took about 15 minutes of constant reeling to get all the line on the reel. In less than 3 minutes, the wind had it at full length. My kite was half a mile away, flying strong!! I quickly realized it was getting dangerous when it spiraled downwards a couple times, and it took about an hour to reel it all the way back! Great product!!! Just bought a 25ft kite! Can’t wait to try it out.
