Great pics! Just need great conditions
Is it heavy? oh yeah, you are going to want at minimum a good strap. Will you need good light? Oh yes If you are cool with that, this lens is awesome and really fun to shoot with. For around 2K, you are getting a lot of glass. Primarily when you take long distance pictures you will be fighting some atmospheric distortion effects, otherwise, your goal is to fill the frame with as much detail as you can, and with this lens, you can certainly get there. The barrel zoom is kind of annoying, however, for $2K, again, you are going to get some tradeoffs. I have mine paired with an R7 with a crop sensor, took a couple of these pictures last weekend in some ideal lighting coonditions. Judge for yourself.

Fantastic Super Zoom!
Absolutely terrific. For the money, itโs a great, sharp super zoom for the R Bodies. I use this extensively for kids sports, including soccer, baseball, and cross country. The only criticisms I have are completely nitpicky. When attached to a monopod, itโs a breeze to shoot all day. Itโs light enough to handhold, but it feels a bit awkward because itโs so big. Again, itโs great great great!

Great for wildlife photography
Monster of a lens! I paired this with my R6 mark iii and it works great. Actually fun to use despite its size. Autofocus works flawlessly. Image stabilization along with the R6 IBIS is the perfect combination. You wonโt be disappointed with this lens.

Fantastic lens.
This is a great lens. I do a lot of sports photography and the photos are fantastic. Not great for sports photography at night, but I have still been able to get some great images.

It's a beast, but performs admirably
I've only had this lens for about a week, but I've taken about 100 photos of our animal friends feeding in the rock garden. My early impressions of the lens: - It is heavy, but manageable and I can handhold it for about 15 minutes with the camera to my eye before I have to set it down. - At 800mm, even in "okay" light, I need to turn on stabilization and when possible support the lens on a tripod or improvised support (a stack of books worked great today as I sat at the open window) - I am using it with the R6II, a camera I do not love. It's very much still winter here so I haven't set up my blind yet, and shoot instead from a window in the house, maybe 30' from the rocks. At 800mm I have almost enough reach, but in the end do crop the images a bit anyway. I am now debating getting a R7 for that extra reach without losing so much resolution, or maybe an R5 where shooting at 1.6 crop I still get an image around 17mp. I feel like with this lens, the more resolution, the better. - I have had some trouble with focusing, especially at 800mm. Part of that is definitely user error, part is lack of familiarity with the lens and, honestly, Servo and focus screens on the camera (I do not typically photograph fast moving small objects at a distance). I think the lens is sharp enough, and hope to improve the hit ratio as I better learn to use it. Still, I've got quite a few shots I am happy with. - I think it is a pretty amazing value, at least when compared to what else is available. If you need/want the reach, this is your lens. - The plane photo: this commercial plane was passing over the house WAY, WAY UP THERE. I quickly just aimed over my head and let it rip. At 4+ lbs and 19" of barrel extended at 800mm, holding this over your head to shoot is not easy. Stabilizer really saved the shot here. - The other shots were all taken from a basement window. They've been cropped out of necessity, maybe cutting out roughly 1/4th of the available full frame size. Not bad, but more than I prefer to crop. Again, I am shooting from at least 30' away, and these are small animals. - It's no secret, you will need fairly decent light with this beast, especially if it is hand held and the subject is moving around. ISO's will be high, but most cameras handle that well these days. Hey, Canon: color me impressed! I look forward to doing more with this lens and seeing what else it can do.

Probably the best wildlife lens today ๐
This is a tremendous lens. I used to use the the R5 with the RF 100-500L and it was a killer combination. But, tbh I think the R3 with the RF 200-800 is better. The reach is a big part of that. I have lower megapixels with the R3, but there's basically no need to crop with the 200-800's reach. Plus, it's very fast to focus with my R3, and the pictures are sharp. Sure, it's fairly heavy, the throw is quite a bit (basically how you zoom in and out), and finally the collar can't be removed. But, those are really the only cons I can think of. This lens really is an amazing combination of value and quality. Probably the best wildlife lens out there tbh. You won't regret buying this bad boy. *Fyi I use the JJC DLP-8II as a case / pouch for the lens.

Huge Reach!
If you're looking at this lens, it's for the 800mm reach, probably for birds and wildlife. I just got it and took it out for some birding. I used it on the R7 for a 1280mm field of view on the long end. I'm happy with how it performed. Autofocus was speedy and performed well. I'm coming from a first version EF 100-400. So that's all I have to compare the autofocus to. It was faster and more accurate. But not by miles. F9 is not great but that's the trade off and you know it going in. You're going to have to use high ISO. Today was overcast but I was able to stay at ISO 1600 and get nice shots. Of course it would have been better with more light, but with the great IS of the lens and R7 you can get by with a lower shutter speed. The female Norther Harrier was shot at 800mm f9 ISO 1600 1/640. It was pretty still on the perch so it worked. If it was in flight I would have needed ISO 3200 at least, and even then have to work to get a good shot. So yes, f9 is something you'll have to work with. If you use it on an R5 or 6 it will be better but then you'll loose the reach of the R7. You'll probably need noise reduction, I use camera raw and while it's slow on my PC the results are good. None of these images used it though. Overall it's a great lens and I had a great time using it today and look forward to many more days of fun with it. There's no other way to get this reach for anywhere near this price. If you want something faster, get this and rent a 600 f4 or 800 f5.6 for a day to get it out of your system. Then enjoy the fact you can carry this around and use it all the time.

Amazing lens for birding
So far I'm very pleased with the size/handling and images produced with this lens on my full-frame R5. I can't imagine using a fixed focal length lens in the 600 mm to 800 mm range, because I very often find it necessary to back off to 200 mm to locate my subject. This lens is not generally promoted as ideal for sports photography (more zoom than necessary and not fast enough), but I look forward to trying it out at some kids' sporting events.

the Zooooom
This 200-800mm is a true zoom monster and an absolute must-have if you need a powerful zoom lens. I use it with my R6 Mark II, and the images are as crisp and sharp as with my L-series lenses. Yes, it looks big at first glance, especially compared to the RF 100-400mm, but that's an unfair comparison since this is a 200-800mm. It's also rain and dust resistant, and the price is unbeatable for what you get.

Great lens
I bought this 200-600mm lens off Amazon and Iโm honestly really happy with it so far. The quality feels great, and the pictures are coming out crisp and clear. I was a little unsure at first ordering a lens like this online, but it has definitely exceeded my expectations. Itโs been a great addition to my camera gear, especially for getting closer shots without losing detail. Overall, Iโm very pleased with the lens and would recommend it to anyone looking for good quality and sharp photos.

Excellent quality and amazing price
Can't believe how good the lens is for the cost. Actually added a 1:4 convertor and with a little bit of work in software like Topaz the results are very very good. Not the lightest lens but that's to be expected with that kind of range.
