Really beautiful and fairly simple to use. Cleaning up will be a bit of a chore, but not terrible. I just made my first cup and I recommend using all 5 spoonfuls. I only used three and it was good, but I'm sure it will be better once I find the sweet spot. Video shows it on a folding TV dinner table, so it's not going to take up a lot of space. I did find it to be a bit pricey, but the craftsmanship is awesome. I would recommend this product. It would make a great wedding gift or any gift for a coffee lover.

This is the coolest coffee pot I've ever owned. For granted it only makes 400ml of coffee each brew. That's basically a curig machine. But the coolest thing about it is the only thing it needs is a fire source. I've heard of people using olive oil in the lamps before. I'm not sure how safe that is for this set up or if it would even work. How ever if you have some old Carradine lamps then this pot is going to be for you and easy to use. The set up is intuitive. I haven't tried the coffee yet but I'm assuming it would be a mix between French press and pour over. This we can't wait to take camping we do renisaunce fairs and the sca and they love stuff like this as atmosphere in camp life. While everyone works really hard on hiding modern technology and their plugs and carry generators just for camping. We will be chilling in our tents enjoying a quite cup of Joe. Plus the ascetic are you kidding me. This thing is awesome so well worth the money.

While on vacation in Thailand I ordered some special coffee which they made table side in this coffee maker. I bought it when we got home and love it. The experience and the taste of coffee is wonderful. Keep in mind this is not a Keurig quick and easy machine. Difficult? Not really, but the experience is worth the time for me. A couple of comments: it uses more fuel than I expected so check the fuel each time or you can burn up the wick. Also, buy some extra fabric filters but I am still on my first one and they last quite awhile. Lastly, you really need your own grinder. Since I have an espresso machine and grinder this was no problem. Drip pre-ground is not great. A.I. was very helpful in dialing in the method. I use fresh beans (your choice) at 30 grams ground at a 7m setting on my Baratza Vario. That works well for me producing a great cup of coffee.

Perfect! Brews flawlessly. Great rich,full bodied cup of coffee worth the extra it takes to make. If you love a awesome cup of coffee I would recommend.

I'm a widow, and since my husband passed I buy myself a Christmas present each year in his name. This last year it was this lovely coffee maker. It is very elegant, and so very much fun to watch.

It's a work of art that makes great coffee in a ridiculously overcomplicated fashion. Fun to watch, but somewhat less so if what you really wanted was a cup of coffee right away. I have no regrets buying it and would do so again. That said, here's some things to watch out for. The instructions indicate to first fill the alcohol lamp only half full. Which I did, but figuring I'd add more fuel when it ran out. What the instructions SHOULD say is top it off to half full every time you use it. The lamp cracked after only a few uses. The seller "Coffee and Toy" was excellent about shipping a replacement, and I of course watched more closely what was happening with the new one. So far the new lamp, filled halfway for each use, is fine. I've been looking around for some sort of electric replacement for the lamp, and either a mesh or disposable paper filter replacement for the cloth ones. Since the cloth filters are so comparably expensive I've tried reusing them, but you can taste it after two reuses, so no. 2 stars on cleaning; since the coffee goes back into the copper boiler, I bought an extra toothbrush to use through the tiny fill hole to scrub it out.

This is a weird but good buy. SO my husband wanted a gravity coffee pot this is the first one that came up he has used it 5 times so far. it is the best COFFEEE he has ever made. Down side it only brews 2 cups or 500ml of liquid, so it is fun but does not brew a lot. When it comes to cleaning it is so easy its clean it is not dish washer safe also you need to get some fuel to burn in the burner. it does not come with it. When it comes to leaks we have not had any issues with that at all.

This is very easy to use and I love using this syphon. I am glad that I bought it.

It might look complicated at first, but it's really not that hard to figure out. It's actually slightly easier to use than regular coffee syphon. Makes a great cup of coffee, similar to a Mokapot in terms of strength, taste, and even temperature (I'm normally partial to pourover coffee). So I'm happy to say it functions as well as it looks, but there are a few caveats: - For those in Canada, finding clean burning alcohol may be a challenge, as "denatured alcohol" is not really a thing in Canada. This is important if you don't want to end up with soot in your surroundings. I found clean burning ethanol from Kitchen Stuff Plus for $10 - Other reviewers mention it's easy to clean, and I agree for the most part, except for the water retainer. As you know, even though it's where the water is initially stored, it's where your coffee eventually goes. There isn't a way to open the retainer for cleaning, so the only "cleaning" you can really do is pour soapy water into it and thoroughly rinse it out by running water through it. You can't scrub the inside, so it can never be completely clean. It's not the fault of the manufacturer, as this is by design, and I think all Belgian style syphon might have this minor issue. - It comes with a cloth filter that does the job, but it's not great. I made the mistake of tying a knot with the strings, and there was no way to untie it. I ended up having to cut it loose, which made the strings too short and basically rendered the filter unusable. Don't make the same mistake I did or at least order some extra filters. - If you get the copper version, be prepared to treat it like copper cookware, i.e. if you let water dry on the surface, eventually they'll leave spots. It's not a big deal, it just means it'll need periodic cleaning like any copper cookware The build quality is quite decent, but I think it's just slightly overpriced. But that's fairly subjective; people spend a lot more on a piece of decor, which is a secondary function of this syphon.
