Review: Arrived alive and active. - Arrived alive and well. They didn't seem too happy initially but I don't imagine coming through the post is pleasant for them plus it's cold this time of year. Initially they were all clumped around the queen and not very active but after being placed on my lap and allowed to warm up slightly they were all very active. They're staying in their tube until tomorrow once we've had a chance to finish setting their home up properly.

**Q: are the queens raised in the light as i am going to try to move them into a ytong nest using light**
A: Hello Queens are raised in the dark its best to keep them away from direct light or place red acetate sheet over the y-tong :)

**Q: can these ants be used in the antquarium as I bought my daughter this for Christmas however I need ants for it?**
A: If you replace the gel with sand it will work as gel farms promote mould growth for queens ants who will have eggs and brood which will kill them off. With sand you can still view tunnels and activity

**Q: how big does the colony get also can i use compost**
A: Hello.  My colony did not take off as my son was not able to tend them very well.  The seller was super helpful.  He answered all my questions, was able to tell me what we did wrong etc.  He even offered to send me more ants for a discounted price.  I declined as I feel we are not ready for it.  The seller also said not to use a gel substrate, only the dirt/sand one.  Help this helps.

**Q: Can I buy two queen Myrmica rubra ants and put them together because I have read that when these ants form nests there can be multiple queens?**
A: Hey that is true and I already have a two queen colony already set up as you can't usually put them together the workers as well if you buy it twice I'll send you a two queen colony:).
